Oscar-award nominated actress Angela Bassett will host The Music Center's 30th Annual Spotlight Grand Finale Performance at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. This landmark event will showcase the 14 outstanding Southern California high school students, ages 15-18, who were recently named Grand Prize Finalists and will celebrate three decades of the vital scholarship and arts training program that has helped launch the careers of many of today's most renowned artists. The event culminates a year-long process where more than 1,400 Southern California students participated in the program.

The Music Center named 14 outstanding Southern California high school students as Grand Prize Finalists in the 30th annual The Music Center's Spotlight program (Spotlight), a free nationally recognized scholarship and arts training program for teens. Two Grand Prize Finalists were named in each of seven categories, including acting, ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental. Deaf Spotlight Presents SKIN, a Theatrical Production in American Sign Language

Deaf Spotlight is pleased to present its 3rd theatrical production, SKIN, this spring by an emerging playwright, Crystal L.M. Roberts. This play will be on stage for eight performances from May 4 - 7 and 12 - 13, 2017, at the 12th Ave Arts Mainstage in Seattle, Washington. SKIN will be directed by Alexandria Wailes who has over 15 years of acting, directing, choreographing and a lifetime of dancing.

An important part of The Music Center's fundamental support for arts education, Spotlight is more than a competition. The program provides opportunities for Southern California high school students to acquire the skills they need to pursue their dreams in the performing arts, ranging from the development of performance abilities in numerous genres to roles in arts management, along with valuable workforce readiness skills.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) continues its collaborative undertakings with leading classical music icons this year during the Conservatory's Winter Term and Spring Semester, taking place January through May. SFCM welcomes back pianists Leon Fleisher and Garrick Ohlsson (ongoing residencies from this past fall), in addition to hosting a dynamic spread of other respected figures in the classical world, including David Gockley, Martin Katz, the Miro Quartet, Peter Pastreich, Patricia Racette, Ian Robertson, and Wolfgang Vlader.

DAMES AT SEA to be Filmed for Lincoln Center Archives

The first ever Broadway production of DAMES AT SEA will receive the honor of being filmed for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive for the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The filming will take place during the Tuesday, December 15 performance.
