LIFE WITH ORSON WELLES: THE MAN BEHIND THE LEGEND Docu-Series to Premiere in Berlin

Beatrice Mori di Gerfalco Welles and writer-producer-director Dax Phelan have teamed up for a six-episode original docu-series, “Life with Orson Welles: The Man Behind the Legend.” The daughter of Orson Welles and his third wife Paola Mori, Welles is a countess from an Italian noble family that dates back to 400 AD, a stage and film actress (“Chimes at Midnight,” “Don Quixote”), and the manager of the Orson Welles estate.

Cellist Oliver Herbert Joins Opus 3 Roster

Opus 3 is pleased to welcome cellist Oliver Herbert, a San Francisco native who is quickly building a reputation as an artist with a distinct voice and individual style. Performing a wide range of repertoire, Oliver's recent solo and recital appearances include debuts with the San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony SoundBox, and the Dame Myra Hess Recital Series in Chicago, among others.

HK Phil Presents Jaap Van Zweden's Spectacular Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 & Jing Wang's Lyrical Brahms Violin Concerto

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil), its Music Director Jaap van Zweden and its Concertmaster Jing Wang proudly present the first programme of the Swire Maestro Series in the season, bringing two 19th century masterpieces - Brahms's legendary Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky's life-affirming Fourth Symphony - on 19 and 20 October at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

Phelan will adapt the books and direct. The pic will be produced by Phelan and Eric M. Klein (JASMINE, HAPPY HOUR, THE YOUNG UNKNOWNS) via New SILK Road Entertainment and Hey Klein Pictures, and executive produced by Stratton Leopold (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, PAYCHECK, THE SUM OF ALL FEARS). A search for a lead actress to play Murray is currently underway.

LA Phil Names Teng Li Principal Viola

Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic have announced the appointment of Teng Li to the post of Principal Viola. Li assumes her duties in August 2018, during the Hollywood Bowl season. She comes to Los Angeles from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where she served as principal violist since 2004.

Cleveland Institute Of Music Seats Most Competitive, Most Diverse Class In School History

When 162 of the world's most talented classical music students arrive at the Cleveland Institute of Music next fall, they will represent the most competitive and accomplished incoming class in CIM's storied history. They will also be the most racially diverse: African American, Latinx and Native Hawaiian students will be an historic 17 percent of the incoming class.

Concertmaster Frank Huang To Lead New York Philharmonic

Concertmaster Frank Huang will lead the New York Philharmonic from his chair as Concertmaster in a program spotlighting the Orchestra's string section. The concerts will feature Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3, with Principal Associate Concertmaster Sheryl Staples as soloist; Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik; and Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, and take place on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Applications are now open for The Irving M. Klein International String Competition, presented by the California Music Center and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Violinists, violists, cellists and bassists age 15 to 23 of any nationality not currently under professional management are eligible to compete June 2-3, 2018 in San Francisco at the Conservatory. New York Philharmonic Announces Free Insights at the Atrium Events

The New York Philharmonic has announced the 2016-17 season's Insights at the Atrium series, free events exploring themes of the Philharmonic's concert season through multimedia lectures, conversations, and panel discussions. Expanding to eight events this season, Insights at the Atrium has gained in popularity since its inception in 2011, helping thousands of audience members delve more deeply into the music, musicians, and ideas featured in the Philharmonic's season through a dynamic and accessible forum. All events are held at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center and begin at 7:30 p.m.
