TheatreWorks Announces 52nd Season Including Two World Premieres

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley announced its 52nd season, featuring six plays and musicals to be presented November 2022 through August 2023. Three of the season's productions will be mounted at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, and three will be staged at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. Subscriptions are now available; single tickets will be available in the coming months at TheatreWorks.org.

Jon Krupp's KILONOVA Wins The 15th Annual Barbour Playwrights Award

After three staged readings of three new plays by innovative emerging playwrights were presented to enthusiastic audiences at Guild Hall, the votes for the Episcopal Actors' Guild's 15th Annual Barbour Playwrights Award are in.  The judges have selected Jon Krupp's Kilonova as this year's winner.

The Episcopal Actors' Guild (EAG) has announced that the Barbour Playwrights Award will be back for its fifteenth year this June. The festival celebrating new work for the theatre will feature readings of three new plays nominated by this year's partnering company Playwrights Gallery.

Final Weeks to See Keen Co's World Premiere of THIS SPACE BETWEEN US

Keen Company's World Premiere of the new comedy This Space Between Us by Peter Gil-Sheridan (The Rafa Play), directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, will begin its final two weeks. Performances will continue through April 2nd only at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and Dyer Avenues.

THIS SPACE BETWEEN US World Premiere Opens This Week

Keen Company's World Premiere of the new comedy This Space Between Us by Peter Gil-Sheridan (The Rafa Play), directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, will open on Wednesday March 9th. Performances will continue through April 2nd at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and Dyer Avenues.

Michael Urie, Mallory Portnoy & More Join Fault Line Theatre's IRONS IN THE FIRE

 Fault Line Theatre will continue the 2022 Season of Irons in the  Fire, the organization’s reading series of new plays in development, with God Save the Queer by Zackary Grady, directed by Portia Krieger and featuring Michael Urie (George), Mallory Portnoy (Charlotte), Keshav Moodliar (Tariq), Seth Clayton (Louis), and Mary McCann (Kate).

Submissions Now Open for Red Bull Theater's 2022 Short New Play Festival

Red Bull Theater today announced that submissions are now open for Red Bull’s 12th ANNUAL SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL, six brand new 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes inspired by this year’s theme: “Alchemy,” that will be selected through an open submission process.

The Wayward Voices Workshop Reading Of DE LA LUNA, DEL SOL

Wayward Voices will close out the inaugural season with “De la Luna, Del Sol” by  Daniel Andres Blanco. A passionate actor, director, and screenwriter, Blanco partners  with Wayward Voices to workshop his screenplay for the stage. “De la Luna, Del Sol” follows introvert Emiliano De la Luna through his struggles coping with life after a  traumatic breakup.

BroadwayWorld recently spoke with Giovanna Sardelli, TheatreWorks Artistic Associate and Director of New Works, from Las Vegas, where she was born and raised and has been spending most of the pandemic away from her actual home in New York. Sardelli has made a career out of championing new works and seeking out voices we may not have heard before, and her enthusiasm for her work is infectious. Any conversation with her is bound to convince you that you need to venture away from the tried and true and take a chance on a playwright you may be unfamiliar with. Not only will it expand your horizons, but you will also be moved and entertained.

Red Bull Theater Announces Open Submissions for SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL 2021: RESTORATION

Red Bull Theater today announced that submissions will begin for their 11th annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes. Six brand new plays, inspired by this year’s theme: “Restoration,” will be selected through an open submission process to premiere alongside commissions from C. A. Johnson and José Rivera.

TheatreWorks Streams New Look At PANDORA, September 24-28

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will stream a benefit online workshop reading of Pandora, an intriguing new work by acclaimed playwright Laurel Ollstein. TheatreWorks's production of Ollstein's play They Promised Her the Moon, an inventive look at women's early efforts to join the space race that was a hit among audiences and critics, was abruptly closed in March when shelter-in-place orders went into effect.
