Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director, Casey Reitz, Executive Director) has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of Harvey Fierstein's TORCH SONG, directed by Moises Kaufman.

Even though we are in the slow summer season for theatre news, show and casting announcements have been slowly trickling in so that the 2017-2018 Broadway season is beginning to come into sharper focus. The slate is filled with high-profile offerings like FROZEN and HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, exciting revivals including M. BUTTERFLY, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and MY FAIR LADY, intriguing new works like THE BAND'S VISIT and JUNK, and curious newcomers, i.e. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE.

Pulse Theatre Chicago, a non-Equity professional theatre, will feature a diverse cast in its upcoming production of Edward Albee's classic drama 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' The production runs August 4-20 at City Lit Theater, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago.

Shakespeare & Company adds two more performances to its Intimate Apparel run. Written by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage and directed by long-time Company member Daniela Varon, the performances have been selling out.

The Arctic Group has commissioned playwright Daniel Talbott (Slipping and Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, America, Kuwait) to write a new short play that will be performed on a double bill with Steve McMahon's Sad Indie Love Song in Series B of their inaugural FRIDGE Festival. The festival runs August 31 - September 10, and Series B will play Thu 8/31 at 9pm, Sun 9/3 at 7pm, Wed 9/6 9pm, and Sat 9/9 at 7pm.

Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced it will produce the world premiere of Dan Cody's Yacht, a new play written by Anthony Giardina and directed by Doug Hughes, as part of MTC's upcoming 2017-2018 season. Dan Cody's Yacht will begin previews May 15, 2018 ahead of a June 6, 2018 opening night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

Greenhouse Theater Center (GTC) and Artistic Director Jacob Harvey are pleased to announce the formation of the new MC-10 Playwrights Ensemble, a collection of ten of the country's most sought-after established and mid-career Chicago playwrights and theatre-makers. The ensemble will be in residence at the Greenhouse Theater Center and will create new works for its stages. Beginning with the 2018-19 season, the Greenhouse will present one play per season by MC-10 member playwrights, eventually expanding to two MC-10 productions per season.
