Theresa Stroll, an overweight actress, moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting dreams, but found it difficult to avoid the negativity both around her and coming from within her. As she worked toward her goals, she got hit not just with the reality of having to work to pay back her student loans, leaving her little time and energy to put towards actually making her dreams come true, but also with the roadblocks and closed doors she felt were caused by her weight...She'd had enough!

CCCT to Continue 56th Season with Sarah Ruhl's THE CLEAN HOUSE, 2/12-3/6

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) continues its 56th season with Sarah Ruhl's insightful comedy, The Clean House, directed by former Woman's Will Artistic Director Erin Merritt in her CCCT debut. The Clean House plays from February 12 through March 6; performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm at the theatre.

Theater Works' revolutionary PuppetWorks season continues with Boo! A Halloween Spooktacular in the black light style of puppetry which causes the puppets, scenery and even the audience to glow-in-the-dark. Taking place October 17, 24 and 31, Boo! will be performed at 10:30 am and 12 pm at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. Full of spooky shenanigans, Boo! tells the story of the scariest street in town, so scary no kid dares go trick-or-treating, where three friends set out on a fun filled Halloween adventure.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma Receives Fred Rogers Legacy Award Tonight

The Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children's Media, home of the archives of the late Fred Rogers, beloved creator and host of the celebrated television program Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and a national and international resource continuing his commitment to early learning, will honor world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma as the inaugural recipient of the Fred Rogers Legacy Award tonight, May 23, 2014. The renowned musician will also give a recital to benefit the Center, based at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary.
