Strawdog theatre Company Opens BIG LOVE, 4/18

Strawdog Theatre Company concludes their 25th anniversary season with Big Love by Charles L. Mee, directed by Strawdog Artistic Associate Matt Hawkins, April 18 - May 25, at the Strawdog Theatre, 3829 North Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Thursday, April 18,, Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 4 p.m. There is a board preview benefit performance, Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. Opening Night is Monday, April 22 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Tickets are $28 with group, senior and student discounts available. First Folio Theatre Presents SHYLOCK AND HIS DAUGHTER, Now thru 8/16

First Folio Theatre, (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83), is presenting a special fully staged reading of SHYLOCK AND HIS DAUGHTER by Maurice Schwartz tonight, July 26 and Thursday, August 2, 9, and 16 at 8:15 p.m. Originally written for the Yiddish theater and translated into English, this play tells the same story as First Folio's main stage Shakespeare-under-the-Stars production, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, but from Shylock's perspective.

Full Cast Announced for First Folio Theatre's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, 7/11-8/19

First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83), known for bringinghigh quality performances of Shakespeare and other classics to the Chicagoland suburbs, will close its landmark 15th season with William Shakespeare's most controversial play, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Artistic Director Alison C. Vesely will direct the classic for First Folio's beloved annual Shakespeare-under-the-Stars production on the outdoor main stage situated on the scenic slopes of the historic estate. A dramatic destination that not only delivers outstanding theater to its audience, First Folio Theatre invites Chicagoans to spread out their picnic blankets, kick off their shoes, and soak up some Shakespeare against a picture perfect backdrop.
