The New Wolsey Theatre's PULSE Festival Ipswich is now open for applications for 2018! Working with our Festival Directors China Plate, the festival will run from Thu 31 May to Sat 9 June.

Written by Bertolt Brecht during World War II, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui serves as a parable for Adolf Hitler. Germany becomes Chicago, Hitler becomes gangster Arturo Ui, as we witness his sociopathic rise. Today, this play proves 'all too current'. Immersive, Simon Evans' production breaks down the fourth wall as the titular character endeavours to build one up.

Bruce Norris' new translation of Bertolt Brecht's satirical masterpiece The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui is directed by Simon Evans with design by Peter McKintosh. Lenny Henry will make his Donmar debut as Arturo Ui and is joined by Michael Pennington, who recently played the title role in King Lear at the Royal & Derngate Northampton, as Dogsborough. The Donmar Warehouse today announces full casting for Bruce Norris' new translation of Bertolt Brecht's satirical masterpiece The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, directed by Simon Evans with design by Peter McKintosh.

The Gate Theatre today announces an extension for its critically acclaimed, smash-hit production of George Brant's Grounded which is returning to the Gate following two previous sell-out runs.  The production, starring Lucy Ellinson, now runs for an extra week until 25 March. 

Previously performed at The Gate in 2013 after a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival, Grounded returns to Notting Hill by popular demand. It is immediately apparent why.

From this year, the festival will be sponsored by local company Harrison C White.

THE ROYAL Shakespeare Company bring A Midsummer Night's Dream to The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, next month (April).

The Royal Shakespeare Company today announces the professional actors cast in the national tour of A Midsummer Night's Dream, leading the RSC's celebrations for the Shakespeare anniversary year in 2016. This national celebration of Shakespeare will visit each region and nation of the UK. In each area the 18-strong professional company will be joined by local amateur theatre companies who will play the Mechanicals and schoolchildren who will form part of Titania's fairy train. Playing opposite the 14 amateur Bottoms cast from across the country, Ayesha Dharker will take on the role of Titania, Queen of the Fairies.

With Elinor Cook's Image of an Unknown Young Woman about to open at the Gate, Artistic Director Christopher Haydon today announces the full company for his production of the UK premiere of Lucas Hnath's The Christians - William Gaminara (Pastor), Jaye Griffiths (Pastor's Wife), Stefan Adegbola (Associate Pastor), Lucy Ellinson (Congregant) and David Calvitto (Elder). Also announced today, ahead of performances at the Gate Theatre, the production plays at the Traverse as part of this year's Edinburgh Festival from 3 to 30 August.

Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival and Gate Theatre, George Brandt's award-winning play Grounded lands at the Studio Theatre from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 January as part of an extensive new international tour.

This microplay was written by Chloe Moss (The Gatekeeper, This Wide Night) and directed by Christopher Haydon (Grounded, Gate Theatre), after a conversation with Hadley Freeman.
