Actor/Director Charles Weldon, who was Artistic Director of The Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) since 2005, died December 7 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, NYC. He was 78.

dick clark productions announced today that Participant Media and DreamWorks Pictures' Green Book, directed by Peter Farrelly and starring Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali and Linda Cardellini, will receive both the “Hollywood Ensemble Award” and “Hollywood Screenwriter Award” at the 22nd Annual “Hollywood Film Awards,” which will take place on Sunday, November 4 at The Beverly Hilton. The TIFF 2018 People's Choice Award winner is written by Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga and Brian Currie and is inspired by a true friendship that in 1962 transcended race, class and the Mason-Dixon line.

HBO orders Damon Lindelof's  WATCHMEN to series, according to Variety.

The play is winner of the troupe's 2017 Emerging Playwrights Competition. Called a 'drama with comedy,' it is a story of displacement of Black families and the forces that lead to it in modern America. Performances are at Theatre 80 St. Marks, 80 St. Marks Place.

The Educational Dramatic Comedy movie, 'In Search of Liberty,' has been accepted to screen at the Hoboken International Film Festival 2018. Hailed as one of the top 10 film festivals in the world, HIFF runs from May 18-24 and is hosted by Greenwood Lake, NY, and held at the Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park - On the Beach.
