Artpark announces a casting change for the upcoming production of THE ODYSSEY. Accomplished Broadway actress Courtney Balan will replace Emily Skinner in the role of Penelope / Circe due to a family emergency.

The Old Globe's Board of Directors today named Michael G. Murphy as Managing Director. Murphy was appointed Interim Managing Director in October 2011 after the resignation of CEO/Executive Producer Louis G. Spisto, who oversaw both the artistic and administrative operations of the theatre.

The Old Globe's Board of Directors today announced that theater executive search firmAlbertHall&Associates (AHA) has been retained to conduct a nationwide search for artistic leadership for the Globe. The Globe's Transition Committee, chaired by Vice Chair Elaine Bennet Darwin, will work closely with AHA throughout the search process over the coming months.

Today, The Old Globe and CEO/Executive Producer Lou Spisto announced that Mr. Spisto is leaving The Old Globe to work independently as a producer. Mr. Spisto was appointed Executive Director in October of 2002 and assumed the position of Executive Producer in January of 2008.

Lopez's play The Whipping Man was a critical success in New York last season after receiving its West Coast Premiere at the Globe in a production directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Sardelli returns to direct Somewhere, which will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 24 - Oct. 30. Executive Producer Lou Spisto has just announced that the World Premiere of the musical A Room with a View, with a book by Marc Acito, music by Jeffrey Stock (Triumph of Love) and lyrics by Acito and Stock, will complete the Globe's 2011-12 Winter Season. Scott Schwartz will direct the new work based on the classic novel by E.M. Forster. A Room with a View will run in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, March 2 - April 8, 2012. Opening night is Saturday, March 10.

The Old Globe's presents its 2011 Shakespeare Festival, performed in repertory in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Adrian Noble returns as the Artistic Director of the 2011 Festival and will direct Shakespeare's The Tempest and Peter Shaffer's Amadeus.
