BRIC is pleased to announce a free concert by iconic R&B songstress Bettye LaVette on Saturday, October 19 at 3PM, co-presented by Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) at The Plaza at 300 Ashland, to kick off the 2019 BRIC JazzFest. The announcement completes the programming for the fifth edition of the celebrated Brooklyn jazz festival, which continues the 41st season for the pioneering NYC arts-and-media organization and leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn. The Festival takes place over the course of a week (October 19-26) and continues to be what the New Yorker calls a a?oeproudly eclectic gathering [that] remains unbounded by convention.a?? This year's edition will feature concerts, film, poetry, and conversation, culminating in a three-day music marathon, with performances taking place simultaneously in the various spaces comprising BRIC House (647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn).

On April 5th, multi-instrumentalist, singer and Thundercat-collaborator Louis Cole will release a new EP Live Sesh and Xtra Songs, a collection of six unreleased songs and three live session tracks recorded in a house with a huge big band (heavy on the brass and wind sections) including Nate Wood and Ben Wendel from Kneebody, Jacob Mann, Sam Wilkes and Genevieve Artadi to name but a few.

'Brainfeeder X'- a 36 track album that celebrates 10 years of fearless output by the iconic record label - is released this Friday, November 16th. Amongst 22 new tracks featured on the compilation is a stunning remix of the Thundercat song 'Friend Zone' by label mate Ross from Friends.

As Buffer Festival 2018 comes to its conclusion, it is evident that the Festival has cemented its place in the digital space as a unique forum of innovation, creativity and talent. Time is Los Angeles-based singer songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist Louis Cole's third album - a casual but addictive blend of quickfire, hook-laden electrofunk bullets and wistful, soft-focus balladry - and it's compelling. 'A lot of it is little thoughts, that I made into big songs... blasts of inspiration that I was lucky enough to receive,' Cole explains. 'But it all comes back to my mission to create deep feelings through music,' he says of his debut Brainfeeder outing, set for release August 10th, 2018.
