The Asolo Repertory Theatre is starting the 2019-2020 season off with a marvelous rendition of Rodgers and Hammerstein's a?oeThe Sound of Music.a?? Any time you go to see a classic piece of musical theatre your past experiences and schema come into play. Expectations are high (or low) based upon what you think you know about the show. It can be difficult to change those perceptions and to not see what you expect to happen. While the songs and storyline are timeless as ever, Asolo's version, which is spectacular on many levels, offers you a new perspective that will make you feel like you are watching the show for the very first time.

The hills were alive this weekend as Tally Sessions took over BroadwayWorld's Instagram Story at Asolo Repertory Theatre's The Sound of Music, exactly 60 years after the iconic musical's original Broadway production opened! So in case you missed it (or just want to relive all of the fun and excitement), we compiled clips for you to enjoy. Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly kicks off its highly anticipated 2019-20 season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This Tony Award-winning musical sensation will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Broadway: Bright Star, It Shoulda Been You, First Date, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella). Rhodes returns to Asolo Rep where he previously directed and choreographed the theatre's record-breaking smash hit production of Evita in 2017 and Guys and Dolls in 2016. 

AT THIS PERFORMANCEa?? celebrates its 16th anniversary and returns to The Green Room 42 featuring Standbys and Understudies from Moulin Rouge; Ain't Too Proud; Broadway Bounty Hunter; Frozen; Kiss Me, Kate; Be More Chill; Alice By Heart; School Of Rock; and Bandstand on Monday, October 7th at 7pm.

Wrapping up the Encores! Off-Center season is Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Road Show, running July 24-27. Following the matinee on Saturday, July 27, a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman will join Encores! Off-Center Artistic Director Anne Kauffman and Director Will Davis to discuss the making of this production.

Wrapping up the Encores! Off-Center season is  Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Road Show, running July 24-27. Directed and choreographed by Will Davis, with music direction by James Moore, Road Show tells the somewhat true story of the Mizner brothers who inherit a small fortune at the turn of the 20th Century and set out to grab their piece of the American Dream in a country where anything seems possible. The production will star Chuck Cooper (Papa Mizner), Raul Esparza (Wilson Mizner), Jin Ha (Hollis Bessemer), Mary Beth Peil (Mama Mizner), and Brandon Uranowitz (Addison Mizner).

Encores! Off-Center today announced casting for Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Road Show, the final production of the 2019 Encores! Off-Center series and conclusion of the City Center 75th Anniversary Season.

Stephen DeAngelis continues his ongoing salute to Broadway and Off-Broadway Standbys, Understudies and Alternates with its next edition of AT THIS PERFORMANCE… to be held on Monday, June 3rd at The Green Room 42, Green Fig, Fourth Floor, Yotel NYC, 570 Tenth Avenue (at 42nd Street), New York, NY 10036 at 7 PM. Hosted by series Producing Artistic Director and Casting Director Stephen DeAngelis, the popular series allows performers to showcase their versatility and share anecdotes about their experiences.

NiCori Studios & Productions, housed at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center, will be offering an Audition Workshop, Dance Workshop and two Musical Theatre Summer Camps in the upcoming weeks.  

NiCori Studios & Productions proudly presents the third annual New Jersey Cabaret Festival on Saturday, June 1st at 7pm at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship in Morristown, NJ. The New Jersey Cabaret Festival features performers who were born, currently live in, or have performed extensively in New Jersey.
