Summit High School Leads Paper Mill Playhouse's 2014 Rising Star Nominations; Ceremony Set for 6/3

As one of the nation's leading regional theaters and producing partners for Broadway, Paper Mill Playhouse has a well-earned reputation for launching both performers and shows for Broadway. Since their inception in 1996, the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey.

Paper Mill Playhouse to Host Summer Conservatory Auditions; Partners with UCPAC

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced auditions for its 2014 Summer Professional Training Programs for talented young performers ages 10 to 18. Paper Mill's competitive Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory will open on June 30, 2014 in its new home at the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) and Hamilton Stage for the Performing Arts, in cooperation with their affiliate theater, music and dance companies. Auditions are scheduled for January 25 and February 1, 2014 at UCPAC. An appointment is required to audition for the Paper Mill Playhouse Summer Musical Theater Conservatory. To schedule an audition appointment please email an appointment request to summer@papermill.org on or after January 2.

"Bea and Laura are experienced professionals that will enhance the work that Paper Mill Playhouse produces onstage and beyond. These appointments will allow the theater to continue to grow and thrive."

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced open auditions for the highly-acclaimed Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a tuition-free, audition based, performance show choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse's award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir acts as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond. In 2013, the choir performed for more than 15,000 people across the state including appearances at the New Jersey State House, Best of Morris-Essex Festival, Patriot's Theater in Trenton, NJ Pride in Asbury Park, numerous street fairs and the main stage at Paper Mill Playhouse. The choir consists of 30 to 40 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22.

This is the first time Paper Mill Playhouse has expanded its Autism-Friendly performances to a main stage production.

Paper Mill Playhouse hosted the 18th Annual Rising Star Awards - Presented by the Investors Foundation -tonight, June 4th at the Millburn Theater. Schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Production and Leading Actor/Actress nominees performed at the event and award recipients were presented with a crystal award from Tiffany & Co. Summit High School came out on top, winning Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical. A total of 31 awards were presented along with five scholarships and other cash prizes. Ms. McNany was chosen for her work with Paper Mill Playhouse's Theater For Everyone initiative, which in recent years expanded to include children with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Paper Mill Announces Upcoming Summer Theater Camp for Children

Paper Mill Playhouse, (Mark S. Hoebee, Producing Artistic Direct; Todd Schmidt, Managing Director), one of the country's premier not-for-profit theaters, is thrilled to announce a new arts education initiative, The Paper Mill Players Camp. The summer camp is a non-competitive, summer musical theater workshop in which students can have fun while honing their acting, singing and dancing skills. The classes will run from July 2nd to July 25th and meet three times a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is a morning session available from 9:30am-12:30pm for children ages 6-8, and an afternoon session for children ages 9-11. Classes will be held at the Millburn Library, and tuition is $625.00 for the four week session.

The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir will act as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond. The choir will consist of 18 to 24 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22. Auditions for this special ensemble will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:30pm. Age appropriate students auditioning for Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theater Conservatory will have the option to be considered for the show choir at their scheduled audition. Call-back auditions will be held on Paper Mill's campus on Sunday, February 10th at 8:00pm.
