The Broadway artwork for CATCH ME IF YOU CAN has been released!

We are hearing HUGE rumblings that the Hollywood Bowl has chosen their summer musical... Drum roll please... HAIRSPRAY! The Hollywood Bowl has been knocking these musicals out of the ballpark these last three years with LES MISERABLES, GUYS & DOLLS and RENT.

Despite legendary costume designer Bob Mackie working on CATCH ME IF YOU CAN's 2009 Seattle tryout, he will not be part of the creative team as the show opens on Broadway. Multiple Tony Award winner William Ivey Long is now working with the show.

Today, lead producers Margo Lion and Hal Luftig announced the complete cast for the new Broadway musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz will star as Carl Hanratty and Aaron Tveit will star as Frank Abagnale, Jr. alongside Tony Nominee Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale, Sr. and Tony Nominee Kerry Butler as Brenda Strong. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN will open on Broadway on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at The Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52nd Street. This new musical, created by a team of Tony winners, features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, choreography by Jerry Mitchell and is directed by Jack O'Brien. Previews begin March 7, 2011.

The Toronto Star is reporting that Catch Me if You Can, the highly anticipated new Terrence McNally/Marc Shaiman musical, may be having it's out of town try out in Toronto before heading to Broadway.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) has announced that its membership ratified several contracts at the union's annual membership meeting held this past month. Attended by over 75 directors and choreographers and presided over by Executive Board President Karen Azenberg and Executive Director Laura Penn, the meeting also included the announcement of executive board election results and the presentation of the Joe A. Callaway Awards.

The 5th Avenue Theatre started off their season with the world premiere, pre broadway engagement of the musical 'Catch Me If You Can' based on the Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio film. And as one who has been very vocally against the trend of turning movies into musicals, I have to back pedal on that a bit and admit that when it's done well, it can be an amazing experience. And this show is the closest thing to a perfect new show that I?ve seen in awhile.
