Andre De Shields to Receive Audelco Special Achievement Award at 42nd Annual Gala, 11/17

Award-winning Broadway star Andre De Shields will be adding another honor to his mantle when he accepts the "2014 AUDELCO Award for Special Achievement" at The 42nd Annual Vivian Robinson/AUDELCO Recognition Awards for Excellence in Black Theatre, on Monday, November 17. The annual event will be held at Symphony Space's Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, 2537 Broadway (at 95 Street) at 7:00 PM.

Richard Thomas to Star in A DISTANT COUNTRY CALLED YOUTH at The Old Globe, 6/9

The Old Globe today announced it will present Emmy Award-winning actor Richard Thomas ("The Waltons," Fifth of July, "The Americans") starring in A Distant Country Called Youth, an intimate look at the making of an artist, adapted by Steve Lawson from early letters Tennessee Williams sent to his family, friends, and professional associates. This one-night-only engagement takes place on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m.

André De Shields Speaks at International Council of Fine Arts Deans Today

Two-time Tony Award nominee and Broadway legend Andre De Shields, has been invited to be the featured speaker at the Conference of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans (ICFAD). The prestigious conference will take place today, October 25 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. De Shields' presentation topic is The Artist As Alchemist. The presentation will be attended by more than 100 Deans and administrators of fine arts colleges and universities from around the world.

Three friends embark on a joyous journey of sisterhood, discovering their inner 'duende' through a flamenco class for middle-aged women. Heart Song, the newest comedy/drama from Stephen Sachs (Bakersfield Mist, Cyrano), opens at The Fountain Theatre on May 25 with Shirley Jo Finney (In the Red and Brown Water) directing and choreography by internationally renowned flamenco dancer Maria "Cha Cha" Bermudez.

2012 Ivey Awards Recognize Rick Shiomi for Lifetime Achievement and Isabel Nelson for Emerging Artist

The Twin Cities theater community honored Rick Shiomi, Artistic Director of Mu Performing Arts, with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and performer, director, and theatre creator Isabel Nelson with the Emerging Artist Award at the 8th annual Ivey Awards. Andre De Shields to Direct Crossroads Theatre Company's AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'

Anthology of Asian American Plays Is Subject of Talk at Library of Congress
