25 years to the day the film was released, HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL, the new stage adaptation of Daniel Waters' iconic 1989 dark comedy, made its New York premiere at New World Stages. Written by Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Laurence O'Keefe and Emmy Award winner Kevin Murphy, HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL is directed by famed stage and screen director Andy Fickman, with choreography by Emmy Award winner Marguerite Derricks. ROCKY hit Broadway last night, officially opening with stars Andy Karl and Margo Seibert at Broadway's historic Winter Garden Theatre. The show features an original score by Stephen Flahertyand Lynn Ahrens and a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the 1976 Oscar-winning Best Picture, Rocky.The production is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Steven Hoggett, and Kelly Devine. Soho Playhouse Adds DON'T PRESS CHARGES, LAST OF THE KNOTTS & JAMAICA FARWELL to Current Season

Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street), under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Darren Lee Cole, will add several new shows to its current stellar season, including: Simon Lovell's DON'T PRESS CHARGES with performances beginning Saturday, March 15th (presented Saturdays at 5pm); the previously announced EXTRAORDINARY EXTREMITIES with performances beginning Friday, April 4th; Doug Knott's LAST OF THE KNOTTS with performances beginning Friday, April 25th (presented Fridays at 7pm); and Debra Ehrhardt's JAMAICA FAREWELL with performances beginning Sunday, April 27th (presented Sundays at 6:30pm). The aforementioned productions will join BILL W. AND DR. BOB, which recently announced an extension through June 1st , and Matt Graham's current trio of shows - THIS TOO SHALL SUCK, ANAGRAMAZON and STAND UP AGAINST EVERYTHING! - presented in rotating order Wednesdays at 8pm.

Transport Group's ALMOST, MAINE to Be Taped for New York Public Library, 2/24

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that its acclaimed production of Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III, will be taped for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on February 27. Almost, Maine opened February 4.

DTC Celebrates National Arts and Humanities Youth Program, 'Project Discovery'

Yesterday Dallas Theater Center hosted a celebration in honor of Project Discovery's recent recognition by The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. DTC invited 200 current Project Discovery [PD] participants, teachers, past participants, teaching artists, board, staff and program donors to an hour-long event that featured stories from PD students and a full, experiential PD activity on the main stage of the Wyly Theatre.

DTC Launches DTC Book Club with OEDIPUS EL REY Today

Dallas Theater Center announced today a new program for the 2013-14 season, DTC Book Club hosted by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. DTC Book Club events are scheduled to take place with productions of Oedipus el Rey, The Fortress of Solitude, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure and Les Miserables. Dallas Theater Center Patrons Donate Almost $58K to North Texas Food Bank

Dallas Theater Center patrons donated $57,993.81 to the North Texas Food Bank during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. During the six-year partnership with NTFB, DTC patrons have donated $297,912.16 to the organization.

Sutton Foster is coming BACK to Broadway, as Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that it will present two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in a Broadway production of VIOLET (first seen as part of Encores! Off-Center concert series in 2013), directed by Leigh Silverman. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, VIOLET features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley. VIOLET will be produced in association with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, David Mirvish, Barry and Fran Weissler, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Mary Jo and Ted Shen.
