This month is all about gender when it comes to the theatre I've seen. The first was Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Theater Latte Da which really flips gender upside down. The second now is a beautiful production of VictorVictoria at Artistry in Bloomington. VictorVictoria is a truly unique story that also has some deep roots within the state of Minnesota.
For the third year in a row, Women's History Month is being celebrated with the part sketch comedy, part game show Women's History Month: The Historical Comedybration (with fabulous prizes) playing at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, March 12th and 19th at 7pm.
Conceptually, Conner and Smith are on to something although additional refinement is very much necessary if this show is to have a future life. The small cast delivers some fine performances in this premiere.
It's holiday time in Washington, DC with so many gorgeous decorations adorning our Nation's Capital. Our local theatres are booming with new productions and there are holiday tree lightings, concerts, recitals and sing-alongs all through the DC area. Come visit us and see some shows and join in the holiday festivities that we have to offer during this very festive month. Happy Holidays everyone!
October is packed with over 50 local productions opening on DC area stages. In fact, after the month is over, the writers of Maryland Theatre Guide, where I am the Editor and a columnist, will have reviewed over 80 shows, concerts and cabarets.
