Conyers' New Depot Players Announce Auditions For On Golden Pond

The New Depot Players, Conyers' premier theatre company, will be holding auditions for their 2009 fall show, On Golden Pond, directed by Anne Hargis. Auditions will take place Sunday August 16 and Tuesday August 18 at 7:00pm at Center Street Arts Black Box Theatre, 910 Center Street, Conyers GA 30012.

Christopher Durang's comedy WHY TORTURE IS WRONG, AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM opened at The Public Theater on Monday April 6. This world premiere, directed by Nicholas Martin, began previews March 24 and will run through April 26.

After an amazing run from Off-Broadway sleeper to Tony Award winning Best Musical Spring Awakening ended its run on Broadway last night, Sunday, January 18, following the 7pm performance. After the cast gave the final bows, it was time to celebrate the music, memories and magic that was Spring Awakening. Current cast members, show alumni and the creative team headed to Bond 45 on 45th St. to get the bittersweet yet joyous festivites started and 'not do sadness', BroadwayWorld tagged along to join in the emotional closing night party. When Spring Awakening closed, it had played 859 performances and 29 previews. Its eight 2007 Tony? Awards, including Best Musical, made Spring Awakening one of the biggest Tony winners in the past decade. In addition to the Tony Award wins, Spring Awakening won four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the NY Drama Critics Award for Best Musical, the Drama League award for Distinguished Production of a Musical, and the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, among other notable citations.

Past and present performers of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening come together for a one night only event MONDAY DECEMBER 8th at IRT (154 Christopher Street) with a performance (at 7pm & 10PM) of music inspired by the Rainer Maria Rilke poem Sonnets to Orpheus, Part Two, XII. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Actors Fund and IRT Theater's Artist In Residency program. In the spirit of the holiday season past and present, the Spring Awakening casts - both present and past - perform much of their favorite music. The theme of the show reflects the poem's tone of wanting the changes that come into our lives. The show will also feature a sneak peak into each cast member's Spring Awakening audition.

Spring Awakening: In The Flesh , arrives in bookstores this month and to celebrate the arrival, the books author David Cote was joined by the show's Tony Award-Winners Steven Sater (Book & Lyrics) and Duncan Sheik (Music) on Monday, September 15 and had an informative 'conversation' - on the show, the music and its long-running success at The Barnes & Noble Store at the Lincoln Triangle (1972 Broadway @ 66th Street). In addition, cast members from Spring Awakening including Hunter Parrish and Alexandra Socha performed select numbers from the show. Following the presentation the cast and creative team signed copies of the new book, and the Spring Awakening original cast recording.
