Opening tomorrow -- Musical Theatre West (MTW) opens its 2014-2015 season, reeling in the West Coast premiere of the critically acclaimed Broadway musical Big Fish, a new musical, October 31 through November 16.
Award winning comedian Jason Manford will star in a brand new UK Tour of The Producers. Based on Mel Brooks' beloved Academy Award winning movie, The Producers is a hilarious musical comedy that has taken Broadway and the West End by storm, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards and 3 Olivier Awards; it opens its UK tour in March 2015.
SMTC welcomes Valley theatre veteran Terry Gadaire to the cast as "Roger DeBris", Marina Blue Jarrette as "Ulla", Patrick Russo as "Franz Liebkind" and Sky Christian Donovan as "Carmen Ghia". They join the previously announced award-winning actors Matt Newhard as "Leo Bloom" and Hector Coris as "Max Bialystock."
Tony Award nominee Tony Sheldon (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) has joined the cast of the Encores! Special Event The Band Wagon in the role of Jeffrey Cordova, an egotistical British director. (Roger Rees, previously announced in the role, is no longer available.) The Band Wagon cast stars Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, seven-time Emmy Award winner Tracey Ullman, Academy Award nominee Michael McKean, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes, Tony Award nominee Michael Berresse and Don Stephenson. The Band Wagon will open on Sunday, November 8.
The Producers is Mel Brooks' irreverent and satirical but ever-loving homage to Broadway show biz and has etched into the minds of theatregoers some of the most memorable if not outlandish concepts, characters and lines ever. "I really, really miss high school theatre." This was the first thought I had as I entered, sat and watched, and exited McCallum Fine Arts Academy' production of The Producers. Because I first-handedly know how much work- and how much fun- it is to spend countless hours rehearsing (need to interject that these dedicated students spent their summer rehearsing for this show), running the show countless times, and making several costume and set changes, showstopping numbers, and putting on a beloved Broadway musical on their high school stage look easy. And MacTheatre pulled it off.

Happy Birthday, Hunter Foster! Foster is perhaps best known for playing 'Bobby Strong' in Urinetown, for which he received nominations for an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Lucille Lortel Award. In 2003, Foster starred as 'Seymour' in the Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, for which he received his first Tony Award nomination. Foster also appeared as 'Leo Bloom' in The Producers on Broadway, 'Ensign Pulver' in Mister Roberts at the Kennedy Center, 'Ben' in Modern Orthodox off-Broadway, and 'Sam Phillips' in Million Dollar Quartet.

Michael Frayn's hilarious farce, Noises Off, ends Pittsburgh Public Theater's Masterpiece Season with a BANG!
