Photo Flash: Linda Lavin Celebrates CD Release at Birdland

On Monday, December 5, Tony and Golden Globe Award-winning actress and singer Linda Lavin celebrated the release of her new CD, 'Possibilities' (Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records) by gathering a few good friends to join her in concert on the Birdland stage. Lavin's special guests included Nancy Dussault, Brenda Pressley, Michael Esper & Kate Jennings-Grant, as well as Billy Stritch (piano), Steve Doyle (bass) and Steve Bakunas (drums).

KT Sullivan Heads Urban Stages' WINTER RHYTHMS

Thursday, December 1 at 7PM, Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director), assisted by director/lyricist Peter Napolitano will kick-off a two week musical celebration entitled WINTER RHYTHMS with a evening honoring Donald Smith, founder of the Mabel Mercer Foundation.

42nd Street Moon has lined up two major guest stars, Klea Blackhurst and Jason Graae, to head the cast for the upcoming 80th Birthday salute to beloved Tony-winning Broadway composer/lyricist, Jerry Herman titled The Best of Times.

On Sunday, November 27, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented Christine Ebersole with the Aaron Weinstein Trio (Weinstein on violin/mandolin, Tedd Firth on piano and Tom Hubbard on bass). There were sublime arrangements of unique material by Fats Waller, Dave Frishberg, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer and Cannonball Adderly, including 'Can't Take You Nowhere,' 'Moon Dreams,' 'Tangerine,' 'Fine and Dandy,' and 'Shall We Dance.' Melissa Manchester Joins Encompass New Opera Theatre's Marvin Hamlisch Tribute, 11/20

Nancy Rhodes, Artistic Director of Encompass New Opera Theatre announced today that Grammy Award winner Melissa Manchester will join Lucie Arnaz, Klea Blackhurst, Craig Carnelia, Brian d'Arcy James, Kevin Earley, Lesley Gore, Emma Hunton, Capathia Jenkins, and Karen Ziemba to perform at A Musical Salute gala, honoring the legendary Broadway, television and film composer Marvin Hamlisch on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 6:00pm at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, in New York City. Craig Carnelia, Sheldon Harnick, Baayork Lee and Donald Pippin will provide recollections of Marvin's work.

Andrea Marcovicci - the acclaimed singer and actress dubbed 'The High Priestess of the American Songbook' by The New York Times - will celebrate her landmark 25th anniversary at the famed Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel. Her new show 'No Strings' runs from November 15 to December 30, featuring Music Director Shelly Markham on piano and Jered Egan on bass. For the second year in a row, Andrea will offer a special holiday performance on Monday, December 26 at 7:30 PM. New York Musical Theatre Festival's THE BIG BANK Opens

This year's New York Musical Theatre Festival will host the New York premiere of The Big Bank, a timely musical about a bank that loves to foreclose, written by Daniel and Jacob Seligmann, directed by David Glenn Armstrong.
