Following last year's Cappie award winning run of Dogfight the Musical, Beyond the Page Theatre Company is excited to bring art that matters to the stage with its 34th season, Art That Matters 3: Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Opening this January in the Kogelman Theatre at West Potomac High School, Heathers the Musical: School Edition is a darkly comedic rock musical based on the 1988 Daniel Waters film, Heathers.

Bloomington's Artistry Theater at the Bloomington Center for the Arts opened the Broadway version of the film based on the musical's New York 2007 debut, after which the musical was christened with a Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The music and lyrics by composed by Neil Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe, Heather Hach delivered a clever book for the production. In the film and the musical, Elle Woods wins the audiences' hearts with her unabashed love of anything pink and plucky confidence that overflows throughout the story.

Broadway Kids Jam has released their latest jam, 'Candy Store' from the Off Broadway and soon to be West End musical, Heathers. The American Repertory Theater of WNY will operate out of two new performances spaces for the 2018-19 season and for future seasons. Signing a 10-year lease with Sinatra & Company Real Estate, American Repertory Repertory of WNY will operate out the the former Theatreloft space on 545 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo New York. The company has also entered into an agreement with TCS Development LLC to perform out the Philip Sheridan building on 3200 Elmwood Avenue, Tonawanda NY. 'We have gone from zero to 120 overnight.' Executive Director Matthew LaChiusa on the recent developments. 'The opportunities presented to us will enable this company's future for years to come. We are excited to be working with strong partners and ready to get these ventures rolling.'

Staged on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center in Danbury, performances take place outdoors under the stars Friday through Sunday evenings at 8:00 p.m., with additional specially discounted performances on Thursday, July 5 and 12. There is no show on Friday, July 13.

Eight outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the U.S. will work one-on-one with Broadway greats at the 9th Annual FREDDIE G FELLOWSHIP July 11th - 14th. The event has once again been underwritten by Myrna and Freddie ("G") Gershon, Co-Chairman of the global theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI). The four days of classes and activities honor instructors and teachers who are working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups. In addition to the all-expense paid visit to New York, each of the teachers' schools receives $5,000 from Freddie and Myrna. The teachers are empowered to identify and select how their respective school's theatre program can best utilize the funds.
Nearly 30 students from seven different middle and high schools, plus two dogs, are having the time of their lives putting on this feel-good show.

Two world-premiere-packed Dance Theatre productions also headline the schedule. "Theatre is about story-telling and this season we open with a story about who has the right to tell whose story," explains CSUF Theatre & Dance Chair David Mickey. "Our College of the Arts students have the right to tell stories that are thought provoking, timeless, engaging, and entertaining and this season will create challenging and educational opportunities for our students, as well as myriad performance experiences for our loyal audiences in Orange County."
