The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team of the West Coast premiere of OCTOBER SKY, which will blast off the Globe's 2016-2017 Season with a tale of boys, rockets, and big dreams.

The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater will offer a triple treat Saturday Aug. 20 when the Utah Valley Symphony accompanies Tony Award-nominated Broadway star Laura Osnes and classical/crossover tenor Mark Masri in a night that promises Broadway, pop, classical, American standards and inspirational music.

On July 21st, the students of Broadway Artists Alliance of NYC were tearfully overjoyed by a surprise visit from Hamilton star Renee Elise Goldsberry. Recently winning a Tony Award and Grammy for her role as Angelica Schuyler, Goldsberry spoke about the incredible journey that Hamilton has taken from workshopping a concept, to performing at The Public and moving to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, to earning 16 Tony nominations and winning a Pulitzer Prize. Elsie Fest is back! On September 5 (1PM), thousands of Broadway's biggest fans will gather at the Ford Ampitheatre (Coney Island Boardwalk) for what's been called the Coachella of show tunes - the second annual Great Elsie Fest, a day-long music festival celebrating songs from the stage and screen.

On Friday, July 22, the Theater People podcast welcomes Broadway favorites Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley. Skinner and Ripley first worked together when they were cast as Daisy and Violet Hilton in the 1998 production of SIDE SHOW. The pair reunited on stage in 2000 in the Broadway production of JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) just hosted its 6th Annual GenR Summer Party. GenR, short for Generation Rescue, is a group of young and influential humanitarians who have joined forces with the IRC to help people affected by crisis to survive and rebuild their lives. Proceeds from this event support the IRC's critical humanitarian work.

Tony Award Winner, Laura Benanti, delighted the students of Broadway Artists Alliance's Summer Intensive program with a surprise visit this past Thursday! Benanti, who recently finished up a successful run of She Loves Me (2016 Tony Nomination for Leading Actress in a Musical), was as inciteful and entertaining off stage as she is on, during her Q&A with these aspiring young professionals. West Village hot spot The Beatrice Inn hosted the best of Broadway for an intimate celebration hosted by Executive Chef Angie K. Mar & Tony nominated Producer Tony Marion on Monday night.

On Wednesday, July 20th, the Theater People podcast welcomes three-time Tony Award-nominee, Christopher Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald began working professionally in New York theater in the late 1990s. His early work includes roles in the controversial Terrance McNally play CORPUS CHRISTI and the Broadway production of AMOUR.
