New Adaptation of 'DORIAN GRAY', World Premiere of PROMETHEUS BOUND Set for City Lit's 2017-18 Season

City Lit Theater's 38th season will embrace Chicago's first look in a century at an Irish classic, a rarely done Pulitzer winner performed by a non-traditional cast composed entirely of women over 55, a new adaptation by a three-time Jeff-winning adapter of one of the great 19th Century novels, setting its story in a new time and place; and theCity Lit debuts of both the world's first playwright and Chicago's most esteemed translator, retelling an ancient myth through a cast of human actors and life-sized puppets.

HANG MAN Premiere, COSMOLOGIES and More Set for The Gift Theatre's 2018 Season

During last night's Season Release Bash at Old Irving Brewery Co., artistic director and co-founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2018 season will include: Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour's world premiere of Hang Man, directed by ensemble member Erica Weiss (February 9-April 8); Shakespeare's Hamlet, directed by Monty Cole (June 1-July 29); and the Midwest premiere of Tony Award-winning playwright and ensemble member David Rabe's Cosmologies, directed by Thornton (October 12-December 9).

Recent Cutbacks to Return to The PIT with Double Feature Fridays

The PIT (Stephen Stout, Artistic Director) is proud to announce the return of acclaimed company Recent Cutbacks with their hit film parodies Hold On To Your Butts and Fly, You Fools! for three Double Feature Fridays, starting June 23, 2017.

The Gift Theatre Announces OPEN SEASON

The Gift Theatre is proud to announce Adithi Chandrashekar's Open Season as the first play chosen to pilot 4802-the new play research and development wing of The Gift named after its storefront address located on N Milwaukee Ave in Jefferson Park. Director Mara Stern and Chandrashekar will be given residency in the Gift Theatre's 40-seat storefront and provided with dedicated tailor-made time, space, and support for their work. The residency will take place over a span of 6 weeks and will be supported with a budget of $7,000.  Performances for Open Season are free and open to the public from September 15-17.

Recent Cutbacks' Dinosaur Parody HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS to Stomp Into Chicago

New York-based Recent Cutbacks announces the return of its acclaimed theatrical comedy Hold On To Your Butts, a live, shot-for-shot remake of Jurassic Park performed by just two actors and a foley artist, to Chicago for a limited engagement at Donny's Skybox Theater at The Second City Training Center (230 W. North Ave, 4th Floor) April 20 through 23, 2017.

Applications Open for 2017 Season at SPACE on Ryder Farm

SPACE on Ryder Farm - a nonprofit residency program for artists and activists housed on a 221 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, New York - announces open applications for all programs for its seventh season, which will run June through October, 2017.
