La MaMa will honor film producer Joy Tomchin for her activism on behalf of the LGBTQ communities; Donn Russell for his commitment to and support of nontraditional theatre; and Roberta Uno for her leadership in philanthropy and cultural diversity at the annual La MaMa Gala on Monday, November 2nd at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.), it has been announced by Mia Yoo, the theater company's Artistic Director.

Purple Rose 25 Years, a documentary commemorating the 25th anniversary of Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theatre Company, will premiere on Detroit Public Television at 7:30 pm Monday, October 26. It will be rebroadcast in other PBS markets throughout 2016.

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2015-16 Mainstage Season with The Hot L Baltimore, a touching comedic drama about the residents of a dilapidated and soon-to-be-condemned hotel. The play was written by Lanford Wilson and debuted in 1973. Through the wit and poignancy of his award winning script, we see the characters are searching for things that are missing from their lives. Their plight is symbolized by the burnt-out E in the neon sign that gives this entertaining and perceptive masterpiece its title.
