Rivalisierende Jugendbanden ziehen durch die Straßen von New York. In WEST SIDE STORY vereint er Elemente aus Oper, Jazz, Musical mit feurigen Tanzrhythmen und schuf unsterbliche Hits wie »Maria«, »Somewhere« und »Tonight«. Das ursprunglich in den 50iger Jahren angesiedelte Stuck wird derzeit am Theater Lubeck aufgeführt, wobei die Geschichte dabei in die Gegenwart versetzt wurde, was vor allem durch Kostum- und Buhnenbild zum Ausdruck kommt.

Performances begin September 10 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets start at $25 for preview performances and $32 for regular performances.
