Antaeus Theatre Company presents The Cripple of Inishmaan, a darkly comic Irish yarn by master storyteller Martin McDonagh. Center Theatre Group has selected three local productions for the third annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre at the Kirk Douglas Theatre from March 7 through April 28, 2019. Block Party 2019 will remount Theatre of NOTE's "For The Love Of (or, the roller derby play)," Skylight Theatre Company's "Rotterdam" and Antaeus Theatre Company's "Native Son." Each production will have a two-week run with 12 performances. The three visiting companies will receive the full support of Center Theatre Group and its staff in order to fund, stage and market each production.

More than 40 actors have been set to participate in The Blank Theatre's 24th Annual Young Playwrights Festival, including Angelique Cabral (Life In Pieces), Christoph Sanders (Ghost Whisperer, Last Man Standing), JR Bourne (Teen Wolf), Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue), Scott Lowell (Queer As Folk), Angel Parker (Lab Rats, American Crime Story), Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie, Big Time in Hollywood, FL), and Jessy Schram (Nashville, Veronica Mars, Falling Skies). Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 16-19 from seven different states will be presented during this year's festival at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, running from June 2-26.

William Inge's 1953 Pulitzer Prize winner Picnic certainly holds up quite well in Antaeus Theatre Company's expert and streamlined production. Cameron Watson directs his talented cast without any extraneous beats, moments, or gestures. Every little detail quite essential and integral to Inge's tale of a drifter's affect on a bunch of traditional Kansas folks back in 1952.
