Abingdon Theatre Company-which has produced 81 new American plays since 1993 - celebrates its 21st season with the second annual ABINGDON BAY RIDGE ONE-ACT FESTIVAL, an evening of three world-premiere short plays, commissioned by Abingdon Theatre Company, by Allston James, Stephen Kaplan and Katalina Mustatea, on Saturday, August 17 at 7:00pm at Christ Church Bay Ridge (7301 Ridge Boulevard) in Brooklyn.

Abingdon Theatre Company-which has produced 81 new American plays in its 20-year history-concluded its 2012-2013 season with the annual presentation of its AB*IE AWARDS, an awards program to acknowledge the contributions of their artists and the essential role their audiences serve in the development of new American plays. Rehearsals are now in progress for the Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Brustein's THE LAST WILL, the final installment of his trilogy examining the life of William Shakespeare, with previews set to begin April 5, prior to its official opening on April 17 in the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street).

Jan Buttram's LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE swept the recent 6th Annual Ab*ie Award ceremony garnering seven of the eight awards. Voted outstanding play, LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE also took bows for outstanding male actor (Peter Brouwer) and direction, Kate Bushmann. Outstanding design awards went to Andrew Lu (set), Travis McHale (lighting), Catherine Siracusa and Sidney Levitt (co-costume design), and David M. Lawson (sound). Jules Ochoa, who recently helmed HOW I FELL IN LOVE and PHANTOM KILLER, directs.

Abingdon Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Jan Buttram's LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE, a new play about a slave auctioneer and the one man who can save his life, with performances beginning Friday, February 3. Directed by Kate Bushmann the Off-Broadway production co-stars Peter Brouwer and Leopold Lowe.
