Tony Bennett to Headline 4th Annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival at NJPAC, 11/7-15

New Jersey Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, headlined by the legendary Tony Bennett, from November 7-15, 2015. With help from NJPAC Jazz Advisor Christian McBride, this festival promises to be one of the largest gatherings for jazz fans on the East Coast, showcasing all-star line-ups with some of the country's best musicians, such as Dianne Reeves, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings and the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers nine days of concerts, panel discussions and workshops around Newark, in honor of saxophonist, bebop pioneer, and Newark native James Moody.

Harry Watters & Salt River Brass to Perform Songs from the Great American Songbook at Ikeda Theater, Today

In-demand Jazz trombone soloist Harry Watters and the 28-piece Salt River Brass will be joined on stage by Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian on tuba, Mike Kocour on piano, Dan Bukvich on percussion, when they perform songs from the Great American Songbook in Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater today, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. June 9 through 13, Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater will become a recording and video studio, as Arizona-based multimedia recording company Tresona films practice sessions and the resulting concert for theatrical release. Tickets are available now at mesaartscenter.com or at 480-644-6500.

Matt White to Release THE SUPER VILLAIN JAZZ BAND, 10/1

The brilliant young trumpeter, composer, and educator Matt White steps out with a lively and compelling debut titled 'The Super Villain Jazz Band,' to be released October 1 by Artists Recording Collective. A quintet/sextet effort recorded in Nashville, the album is a postbop update that goes beyond the usual formulas with its restless sense of invention in through-composed settings.
