Playwright John Guare to Receive Greenfield Prize at Annual Awards Weekend, 3/26 - 3/27

The Hermitage Artist Retreat is pleased to announce a variety of events surrounding the upcoming dinner celebration for the presentation of the 2011 Greenfield Prize, being awarded this year in Drama to renowned American playwright John Guare. The weekend celebration includes events taking place Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27. All are open to the public.

ELLA 'The Ella Fitzgerald Musical' Returns To Florida Stage

Back by overwhelming popular demand and as a kick off to its 25th Anniversary Season, Florida Stage presents the return of ELLA as its 2011 summer sensation. Though it has been seen in regional theatres such as Arena Stage, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Hartford Stage, Guthrie Theatre, and Actors Theatre of Louisville, ELLA was created at Florida Stage nearly 5 years ago and has since gone on to be produced in many theatres across the country.

Boyd Gaines, Dana Ivey, et al. Featured in TEN CHIMNEYS Reading, 3/14

Ten Chimneys, offering a revealing look at Broadway legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, will be presented in a staged reading starring Dana Ivey (The Importance of Being Earnest), Boyd Gaines (Driving Miss Daisy) and Lisa Banes (Go Back to Where You Are) by The Acting Company on Monday, March 14 at 7pm at the Mainstage Theater of Playwrights Horizons, 416 West 42nd Street. Directed by David Ira Goldstein, artistic director of Arizona Theatre Company, where Ten Chimneys had its recent World Premiere, the play is by Jeffrey Hatcher (Tuesdays with Morrie, Murder by Poe). Reception with the cast, director and writer follow the performance. Tickets are $60 and $35 available at 212-258-3111.

Jackman & Chenoweth Star in ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY Reading

Variety.com is reporting that Hugh Jackman, Kristin Chenoweth and Andrea Martin co-starred in a recent Roundabout Theatre Company reading of ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. Though readings are often considered precursors to Broadway productions, there has been no official word about the reading, or the possibilities of a future production, with or without those stars.

6th Annual Kevin Kline Award Tickets Go On Sale

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 4 for the 6th Annual Kevin Kline Awards to be presented on Monday, March 28 at 7:30 at the Loretto-Hilton Center Browning Theatre on the campus of Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo. The Awards ceremony, presented by the Professional Theatre Council, will recognize theatre artists in 22 categories (actor, designer, director, etc.).

Lansbury and Friends Pay Tribute to Terrence McNally, 3/28

Angela Lansbury and Friends (and what incredible friends she has!), an all-star salute to Terrence McNally, has been announced for Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Longacre Theatre at 7 pm. A benefit for The Acting Company, Ms. Lansbury has gathered Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Tyne Daly, Edie Falco, Roger Rees and Raul Esparza who will sing, share memories and recreate scenes from dozens of McNally hits. John Glover, Marin Mazzie, Joyce DiDonato, Malcolm Gets, Emily Skinner, Alexandra Silber, Bobby Steggert, Jason Danieley and Stephen Bogardus will round out the evening.

Stages St. Louis ad Delta Gamma Present YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, 2/26

STAGES ST. LOUIS and Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments will partner in a co-production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown on Saturday, February 26 at the Maryville University Campus. This special performance will be modified from the original script and score to fit the abilities of the students. Area children who are both sighted and visually impaired will participate in the performance and range in ages 7 to 18.

SHIPWRECKED, et al. Set for Insight Theatre Company in 2011 Season

The 2011 season opens with the St. Louis premiere of BECKY'S NEW CAR by Steven Dietz. This comedy starring Susie Wall is about a middle-aged woman who has the chance to trade in her average life for an alternate adventure with an uber-rich elderly gentleman. Since its debut in 2008, the play has been received enthusiastically at regional theatres across the country from Sacramento to Cincinnati. BECKY'S NEW CAR will be directed by Tlaloc Rivas and runs June 9-19.

Goodman Theatre Holds Encore Benefit for BEING HAROLD PINTER, 2/21

A one-night-only encore benefit performance of Being Harold Pinter on February 21 at 7:30pm has just been added to Belarus Free Theatre's (BFT) sold-out engagement-concluding an historic theatrical event for the City of Chicago. Goodman Theatre, the League of Chicago Theatres and Chicago Shakespeare Theater together present this special event in which members from Chicago's theater community join the Belarusian company on stage during the moving climactic moments of Being Harold Pinter. Chicago participants will be announced closer to the event. The February 21, 7:30pm benefit takes place Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Theatre for a New Audience Presents MACBETH, 3/20-4/21

John Douglas Thompson is playing the title role in Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth in Theatre for a New Audience's final and fourth show of its 31st Season. Directed by Arin Arbus, this production reunites Ms. Arbus and Mr. Thompson whom she directed in the title role of Othello two seasons ago. Mr. Thompson won OBIE and Lucille Lortel awards for his performance. Macbeth features Annika Boras as Lady Macbeth, Albert Jones (Theatre for a New Audience's Pericles and Oroonoko) as Macduff and Graham Winton (Theatre for a New Audience's Don Juan, Julius Caesar, Pericles, Othello and Measure for Measure) as Banquo. Macbeth begins previews Saturday, March 12 at 8:00pm, opens Sunday, March 20 at 7:00pm, and runs through Thursday, April 21 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, 229 West 42nd Street. President Lincoln's Words Find New Life on Twitter, 2/12
