The gala 44th Annual Jeff Equity Awards ceremony honoring excellence in professional theatre produced within the immediate Chicago area was held on Monday, October 15, at Drury Lane Oakbrook.

The Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 118 Equity productions offered by 55 producing organizations. From these openings, 96 productions were 'Jeff Recommended,' which made them eligible for award nominations.

The Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine will be staged by CST Associate Artistic Director Gary Griffin, September 26-November 4, 2012 in CST's Courtyard Theater. The season continues with The School for Lies by David Ives, adapted from Moliere's The Misanthrope and staged by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines, December 4, 2012-January 20, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater.

Artistic Director Robert Falls' major revival of Eugene O'Neill's nearly five-hour, 18-character epic broke box office records and played to 100% of capacity at the Goodman-officially concluding its 50-performance extended run as the most successful show in the Goodman's 87-year history.

Victory Gardens concludes its 2011-12 season with Oedipus el Rey, written by Luis Alfaro and directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. Writers' Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces the second and final extension of its acclaimed musical A Little Night Music, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, directed by William Brown. The production, originally scheduled to run May 1 through July 8, 2012, will now run through August 12, 2012 at Writers' Theatre, 325 Tudor Court in Glencoe.

The show, playing at The Royal George Cabaret, will close May 27, 2012.
