Generations around the world have grown up with Fiddler on the Roof and such unforgettable, iconic songs as 'If I Were a Rich Man' and 'Sunrise, Sunset.' But getting to the 'final Fiddler' was a fascinating process, and last night at the 92Y's last presentation of the Lyrics & Lyricists season-lyricist Sheldon Harnick took the 92Y audience inside the creation and history of this cultural landmark. Sheldon Harnick the Tony Award-winning lyricist of Fiddler on the Roof will be Hosting the 92Y's presentation of To Life! Celebrating 50 Years of Fiddler on the Roof. The production will run from May 30 to June 1 at the 92Y.  Recently Mr. Harnick talked about, and performed (with the cast) a song cut before the show got to Broadway. The song titled 'Get Thee Out' will be included his 92Y presentation.

Casting is announced today for Music Theatre Wichita's 44th Season, which includes Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida," the professional premiere of Disney's "My Son Pinocchio," the area debuts of "Billy Elliot - The Musical" and "Big Fish," and the return of "Hello, Dolly!" after a 21 year absence.

The evening honored the acclaimed Musicals in Mufti Series and its landmark 100th production. All proceeds will benefit The York Theatre Company and the Musicals in Mufti Series.

Original Cast Records is continuing to shed light on forgotten Broadway tunes with their Lost Broadway and More series. Most recently, they highlighted the overlooked tunes of the legendary Jerome Kern by releasing LOST BROADWAY AND MORE, VOLUME 6: JEROME KERN. The disc is a treasure trove of hit ditties from the early 20th century, and each gem is delightfully sung.

The concert will be held tonight, September 4th at 7:30 pm at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). Meet Me At The Square will be the final performance in the space before the theatre begins its renovation.

When it comes to live theatre, there are many different ways to present it and at least two distinct camps. One is the minimalist, pared down production, often focused on story, dialogue, and character. The other is the big, highly technical spectacle filled with all sorts of theatrical magic tricks. With their current production of Mary Poppins, Theatre By the Sea has focused on the latter at the expense of the former, choosing gimmickry over truthful, enjoyable storytelling and characters. And unfortunately, that's only the beginning of the production's weak spots.

Irish Repertory Theatre presents THE SPECTACULAR SONGS OF LERNER AND LOEWE, this season's Benefit Gala production, on Monday, June 9th at 7 PM at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street).

The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present the premiere of two new musicals: Love in Our Language, with Book & Lyrics by Judy Goetz Sanger and Music by Howard Marren, and Swing Wings, with Book & Lyrics by William Schermerhorn and Music by Milton Delugg and Mary Ehlinger at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
