NEA Grants $10K for 1993 MELANCHOLY EXPERIENCE at Keen Company

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included is an Art Works award of $10,000 to Keen Company to further develop Kenny's Finkle's 1993 Melancholy Experience, a play that was developed in Keen's Playwrights Lab.

Keen Teens Series to Continue with AND...ACTION and More This Spring

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company will present the Eleventh Season of Keen Teens. This season's offerings will be And... Action by Eleanor Burgess directed by Julie Kramer; Rat Court by Boo Killebrew, directed by Daisy Walker; and Tilda Swinton Betrayed Us by A. Rey Pamatmat, directed by Zi Alikhan.

Lauren Molina, Heidi Armbruster & More to Take Part in Keen Teens Benefit Reading Next Week

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company will present a benefit reading in honor of the Tenth Season of Keen Teens on Monday March 21st at The Clurman Theatre, Theatre Row.   Casts will feature current Keen Teens, KT alumni, and professional actors including Heidi Armbruster, Laura Esterman, Peter Jay Fernandez, Autumn Hurlbert, Ted Koch, KK Moggie, Lauren Molina, Chris Perfetti, Jay Russell, Conor Ryan, and Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein as 'Principal Forsman.' All proceeds from the 10th Anniversary Readings will help support the continued growth of the Keen Teens program.

Keen Company's Teens Program Returns for 10th Year

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Jonathan Silverstein - Artistic Director, Mark Armstrong - Keen Teens Producer) will present the Tenth Season of Keen Teens.  This season's offerings will be Thirty Million, a new musical with music and lyrics by Max Vernon; book by Jason Kim, directed by Mark Armstrong, with choreography by Brad Landers and musical direction by Lena Gabrielle; Landlines by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, directed by Liz Carlson; and How The Moon Would Talk by Nick Gandiello, directed by Sash Bischoff. Auditions will be February 3rd through 5th. The Joust Theatre Company to Stage Dipika Guha's THE RULES, 2/12-21

The Joust Theatre Company is proud to introduce their production of The Rules by Dipika Guha. Directed by Cynthia Silver, the show will run from February 12-14 and 18-21 at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on the 21st at The Alchemical Theatre Laboratory located at 104 W 14th St.

Damon Intrabartolo's POP NATION, with Anthony Fedorov, Delays Performances Until Mid December

BroadwayWorld has just learned that POP NATION, a theatrical social event merging music, theater and the nightclub experience, has delayed performances at Hudson (356 W. 58th Street at 9th Avenue). THe show was previously set to begin previews on November 14th with opening night set for January 8th. POP NATION has original music and lyrics by Damon Intrabartolo (bare, 'Superman Returns,' 'X Men 2') and book by Kenny Finkle (Indoor/Outdoor). A press representative has confirmed that the show will now begin in mid December because 'mounting the massive production has taken longer than expected.'

Hangar Theatre Kicks Off 2014 Wedge Series Tonight

The Hangar Theatre is pleased to announce the shows for its upcoming Wedge Series. These four shows will be under the direction of the Drama League Directing Fellows, and will feature members of the Hangar Theatre Lab Company. Each year the Hangar offers free admission to Hangar patrons and all community members to its Wedge Series of cutting edge performances. These shows take place under the Hangar Tent, which is transformed into a unique performance venue for each Wedge show. Performances begin 15 minutes after the scheduled Mainstage performances tonight, June 19, and June 20, as well as July 3, 4, 17, 18, 24, and 25. Wedge performances are open to all ages; however they may contain mature language and situations that may not be suitable for all children.
