Hey Stranger Friends, it's your tried and true MADAM SECRETARY recapper and reviewer here, and this week had both McCord's, our Secretary and husband Henry, refusing to suffer fools gladly. Our Secretary had two healthy servings of issues on her plate this week, and once again the writers do not shy away from taking stories out of our recent, real-life headlines. One of my favorite and versatile character actors, Robert Kline, guest stars as Canadian Ambassador Clark, who is pressuring the Secretary to release a report that supports a controversial oil pipeline from Canada to the U.S., and negotiations to get inspectors back into Iran's nuclear program, are souring badly. Henry is the subject his son's most recent school assignment, and a casual lunch to discuss dad's past takes an interesting turn
Hello Stranger Friends, welcome as we begin our journey following CBS's latest entry into prime time political dramas, MADAM SECRETARY. I hope you will join me each week to compare notes, share critiques, high-five our agreements, and civilly discuss our disagreements. I have been excited for this show to launch and am extremely happy and grateful to BWW for giving me the opportunity to recap and review it each week. I feel the political drama has been contorted a little bit into the soapy waters of serial television lately, and really have been hoping to get back to some great writing, topical discussions, and fine acting, a la THE WEST WING. Truthfully, watching the first episode, I have high hopes that we are on our way with maybe one or two disappointments.
Barbara Hall, the creator of one of my favorite television shows, JOAN OF ARCADIA, has created and is Executive Producing with none other than Mr. Morgan Freeman, MADAM SECRETARY, a new CBS drama premiering this Sunday, September 21st, at 8pm. I am excited to be recapping and reviewing, along with live tweeting, each episode of this series for BroadwayWorld.com. CBS is showing extreme confidence in this show, and giving it a huge leg up in attracting their core audience, by giving it a prime time slot between two of their most watched shows, 60 MINUTES, and THE GOOD WIFE, on Sunday nights.
