Virginia Repertory Theatre presents the award-winning musical, Mame, at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street, running through January 11, 2014. Mame is based on the novel, Auntie Mame, by Patrick Dennis with a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee and unforgettable music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. Hello Stranger Friends, welcome as we begin our journey following CBS's latest entry into prime time political dramas, MADAM SECRETARY. I hope you will join me each week to compare notes, share critiques, high-five our agreements, and civilly discuss our disagreements. I have been excited for this show to launch and am extremely happy and grateful to BWW for giving me the opportunity to recap and review it each week. I feel the political drama has been contorted a little bit into the soapy waters of serial television lately, and really have been hoping to get back to some great writing, topical discussions, and fine acting, a la THE WEST WING. Truthfully, watching the first episode, I have high hopes that we are on our way with maybe one or two disappointments.

Julian Fleisher, New York City's favorite multi-hyphenate, will return to Joe's Pub this fall in support of his recently released album, Finally. The 10-track album was written and produced by Julian and follows his critically acclaimed Rather Bigalbum. Julian will be mixing material from both of his releases when he hits the stage, once again, at Joe's Pub on September 17. Julian was also asked to host a conversation series with his father, the legendary pianist and Kennedy Center honoree Leon Fleisher at the 92nd St Y this fall. The series includes three intimate conversations with the master, the first taking place on October 26, the second on December 14 and the final conversation will take place on February 8, 2015. The series will explore the elder Fleisher's life and career throug the lens of the music he loves.

Premium entertainment network EPIX announced today that Altman, a 90-minute EPIX Original Documentary on legendary filmmaker Robert Altman produced and directed by Ron Mann, makes its WORLD Television Premiere on EPIX today, August 6, at 8PM ET. Featuring rare interviews, clips from his groundbreaking films, and insightful musings from key collaborators and family members, Altman offers a unique portrait of the maverick filmmaker often called the father of independent cinema.

Chris Isaacson Presents has announced a one-night-only concert event at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 16 at 8pm. Broadway Under the Stars will star Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls) and will also feature (in alphabetical order) Obba Babatunde (Dreamgirls), Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys, stage and film), Rogelio Douglas, Jr. (In the Heights), Danny Gurwin (Little Women) and Tony Award-nominee Chad Kimball (Memphis). David Galligan will direct, and the music director is Gerald Sternbach.

The Clear Space Theatre Company of Rehoboth Beach has announced that author Del Shores - creator of their summer hit, SORDID LIVES and frequently called 'the grand master of Southern lowlife sensibilities' - will be appearing at the theatre Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6. Mr. Shores' appearance is sponsored by Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center.

The new season will take place in the year 1979 and feature a younger Lou Solverson who has just returned from the Vietnam War.
