The Drama League presents DirectorFest, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. The festival series that began January 10, 2020 continues with an evening of short plays probing the complexity of relationships with The Sporting Life of Icarus Jones by Marcus Gardley, directed by Chika Ike, and The Drowning Girls by Beth Graham, Charlie Tomlinson, and Daniela Vlaskalic, directed by Rebecca Marzalek-Kelly. The limited engagement begins Friday, January 24, 2020 at 7:30pm for three performances through January 25, 2020 at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street). Winner of the SDSU New Musicals Initiative, 'TIL DEATH DO US PART tells the story of Gracie Jean, a spitfire from hardscrabble Tennessee, who is called to preach God's grace, and Matthew, heir apparent to small town Evangelical royalty, who struggles to rebel against his father while maintaining the privilege of his birth. When they meet, it's love at first sight. But what happens when a fairytale marriage becomes a battle of the sexes?

The play follows the stories of regular people thrust into extraordinary circumstances. We must never forget that the courage of a few have made a difference for all. Fed up with harassment by the police, the denizens of the Stonewall Inn fight back! It's the early hours of June 28, 1969 when a routine police raid on The Stonewall Inn, a popular underground gay bar in Greenwich Village, sparks a full-scale riot. Violent protests and street demonstrations continued for the next several days in what became known as The Stonewall Riots, thrusting a group of unlikely revolution-aries onto the frontlines of history and igniting one of the most influential social and political movements of the 20th Century. HIT THE WALL focuses on that wild and enigmatic first night of the riots, placing the audience just on the periphery of the conflict. An imaginative blend of history and mythology, it shines a contemporary light on the legacy of Stonewall.

The San Diego State University MFA Musical Theatre Program has launched an innovative two-year development program dedicated to fostering the creation of new musicals. The SDSU MFA New Musical Initiative was conceived with the idea of helping musical theatre writers develop a new work through a two-year process including a reading (fall 2018), a workshop (spring 2019) and a full production (spring 2020). After a competitive submission process, which saw over 120 new scripts and scores, the selection committee chose 'Til Death Do Us Part by Bobby Cronin and Caroline Prugh.

Actor/Playwright  Samuel A. Simon takes us on a journey through battles of cancer through his uplifting piece THE ACTUAL DANCE. The story comes from  Samuel's point of view as he, and his wonderful wife Susan, travelled through her battle with Breast Cancer. Showing the audience, that what really matters, come hell or high water, is that we continue to love.

The award-winning solo-show The Actual Dance will launch its 5th year of performances in 2018 with an evening of celebration and performance. Written and originally performed by Samuel A Simon, The Actual Dance is an autobiographical presentation of the experience of confronting the anticipated loss of a spouse. A true love story with a surprise and happy ending, the show has been seen over 200 times in venues across America.

Samuel A. Simon's award-winning love story, The Actual Dance returns to the Midtown International  Fall Theatre Festival for a limited run. The Actual Dance follows the journey and perspective of a man dealing with his wives breast cancer diagnoses.

Several of South Africa's finest actors join a multi-national cast in a staged reading of "BONGANI," a new play about post-apartheid South Africa, set forMonday, Oct 17, at the Bernie Wohl Center at 7pm.
