Shakespeare's Hamlet Opens July 29 in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz Shakespeare is proud to present Hamlet by William Shakespeare, the second play in its 2016 repertory season. One of Shakespeare's most popular tragedies, Hamlet opens on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 8:00 pm in its new home, The Audrey Stanley Grove at DeLaveaga Park in Santa Cruz. Performances run throughAugust 28, 2016.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare opens its 2016 summer repertory season on Friday,July 15, 2016, at 8:00 pm with Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in its new home, The Grove at DeLaveaga Park in Santa Cruz. Performances run through August 28, 2016.

Earlier this season, Folger Theatre announced plans to expand programming towards young patrons with Brews and Banter, a new pre-show behind-the-scenes conversation about the plays being performed on the Folger stage. Patrons are encouraged to peek behind the curtain with Folger actors engage with the greatest literature in the world at the world's largest Shakespeare library.

Folger Shakespeare Library to Welcome Simon Armitage & Peter Oswald, 2/3

On Tuesday, February 3 at 7:30 pm, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series at the Folger Shakespeare Library continues its 46th season with a reading by two voices from the world of British poetry and theatre—Simon Armitage and Peter Oswald. The post-reading conversation will be moderated by Paul Smith, Director of the British Council, USA. Free Screening of Folger Theatre's MACBETH at Carter Barron Ampitheater on 8/23

A free screening of Folger Theatre's 2008 magical production of Macbeth will take place on Saturday, August 23 at 8:15pm at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre in Rock Creek Park. Directed by Teller (of Penn & Teller) and Aaron Posner and recorded before a rapt audience in the Folger's intimate Elizabethan Theatre, this "supernatural horror thriller" showcases the inventive magic of Teller and provides new insight into Shakespeare's classic tragedy.

Woolly Mammoth Reunites Original Cast and Creative Team for STUPID F##KING BIRD, Beginning Tonight

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is bringing back the bird and reuniting the entire cast and creative team of Aaron Posner's Stupid f**king Bird after its runaway success in the summer of 2013. Nominated for eight Helen Hayes Awards and winner for Outstanding Resident Play and Outstanding New Play or Musical, Stupid f**king Bird is directed by Woolly Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz and runs for three weeks, beginning tonight, July 28, 2014, and continuing through August 17, 2014.

Gulfshore Playhouse Welcomes New Director of Education

Gulfshore Playhouse welcomes their new Director of Education, Leah Shaeffer. Leah joins Gulfshore Playhouse following completing an Education Apprenticeship with Cleveland Play House. Leah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Education and a teaching license in Drama/Theatre, grades Pre-K through 12, from Ohio Wesleyan University. Leah has worked as an actor and teaching artist with various youth theatre companies.
