The world premiere, new musical SEARCHING FOR ROMEO - book, music and lyrics by Brian Sutton, directed by Laura Josepher, musical direction by David Sisco - will be presented as an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

The 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents SEARCHING FOR ROMEO, a new musical with a retro-pop score, featuring Book, Music and Lyrics by Brian Sutton. Directed by Laura Josepher with a cast including Zal Owen ("Fiddler on the Roof"), Natalie Newman ("Grease"), and Justine Magnusson ("Whistle Down the Wind"), the world premiere will be presented as an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival at the PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street, New York, NY) for a limited five performances on: Tuesday, July 8 at 8:00pm; Thursday, July 10 at 5:00pm; Friday, July 11 at 9:00pm; Saturday, July 12 at 5:00pm; and Sunday, July 13 at 12:00pm. The evening was hosted by Andrew Kober and Danielle Wade. Andrew Kober made his Broadway debut in the 2009 Tony Award winning revival of Hair after originating the roles of Father and Margaret Mead in the Shakespeare in the Park production. He also played the roles in the West End revival in 2010. He has also appeared on television in 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Pan Am' and 'House of Cards.'

The tour of Whistle Down The Wind makes a brief stop in Toronto. Despite strong performances by the leads this is another muddled musical from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. * * (out of 5)
