On Saturday November 8 at Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, international jazz vocalist Lyn Stanley presented a CD release party to celebrate her new recording Potions (from the 50s). Onstage with her were sensational musicians tenor-saxophonist Terry Harrington, pianist Mike Lang, bassist Mike Valerio and drummer Joe La Barbera. The 80-minute set was an evening to remember, a jazz lover's dream come true.

Chrysta Bell Announces LA and SF Performances

Sultry chanteuse Chrysta Bell will perform in San Francisco and Los Angeles at concerts presented by David Lynch this May. She begins on Thursday, May 9 at Bimbos 365 Club (1025 Columbus Ave, San Francisco) and then lands Sunday, May 12 in Los Angeles in a show sponsored by 89.9 KCRW at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever (6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles). 'Ring in the new year with a jazz concert or three' at The David and Carol Lackland Center in Hackettstown says General Manager Catherine Rust. Centenary Stage Company will be presenting its annual JANUARY JAZZ FEST in the Sitnik Theatre on Saturday, January 12th, 19th, and 26th. This year's festival includes a tribute to Benny Goodman, a celebration of legendary female vocalists like Anita O'Day and Julie London, and a revival of gypsy jazz by The Hot Club of Detroit.

Currently playing at the Metropolitan Room on Friday nights through September (at 9:30 pm), Two for the Road starring singer Shaynee Rainbolt and musical director/pianist Donn Trenner is a transcendent cabaret show infused with romantic nostalgia. While the pairing of Rainbolt, a critically-acclaimed jazz singer (and multiple MAC and Bistro-Award winner), with Trenner, an Emmy-nominated musical director, conductor, and arranger (who has played piano for a Hollywood Walk of Fame full of stars including Ann-Margret, Shirley MacLaine and Bob Hope) seems as close to a cabaret show slam dunk as you get, there is an intense connection between these two performers that is palpable from the moment Rainbolt wraps her luscious voice around Trenner's jazzy piano riffing for the show's opening number.
