BWW Interviews: Debby Boone Talks 'Reflections of Rosemary' and Musical Career

Triple Grammy Award winner Debby Boone will appear at the Welk Resort in Escondido from June 22 to 25. In 1977 she skyrocketed to fame with 'You Light Up My Life' and has never stopped recording since. In the 80s it was gospel and Broadway into the 90s and more recently Reflections of Rosemary, a CD that honors her late mother-in-law all time great singer Rosemary Clooney. Boone has had a varied career, running the gamut from country to Christian to pop - Broadway and standards - and will soon record a Big Band Swing album. In our chat, this talented gal talks about her music and her childrens' books, which she wrote with her husband illustrator, Gabriel Ferrer.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing more classics to DVD in May through the unique 'manufacturing on demand' ('MOD'). The newest selection of available films is a part of MGM's Limited Edition Collection and available through major online retailers. The sixth installment of releases ranges from 1938's Mr. Wong, Detective starring Boris Karloff to 1992's Laws of Gravity with Edie Falco.

Actor/singer Luca Ellis is having a breakthrough year portraying Frank Sinatra in the huge hit Hoboken to Hollywood at the Edgemar Center for the Arts, now extended to the end of January. Having portrayed Sinatra last year with the cast of Louis and Keely @ the El Portal, he is no stranger to the legend. It shows, for when you close your eyes, you feel you are listening to Sinatra himself. Handsome and confident, Ellis talks about the show, its eventual move to a larger space - one that has been confirmed by director Jeremy Aldridge, who also directed Louis and Keeley Live at the Sahara to great acclaim - and shares other insights about singers and the art of singing.

The Skokie Theatre is hosting an evening with Heather Moran, one of Chicago's top multi-genre vocalists, on November 21 at 8pm. Moran will be singing tunes of 50's jazz singers including Julie London, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and June Christy. Pianist Damian Espinosa, bassist Marc Piane and drummer Frank Parker join Heather Moran for this event.
