IVRT Presents VICTOR/VICTORIA in Claremont

Set in Paris in the 1930s, Victor/Victoria tells the story of talented singer Victoria Grant, down on her luck and out of a job, only to change her identity (and gender!) to become the toast of Paris as 'Count Victor of Poland,' a man who imitates a woman in the local cabaret. Amy Gillette will portray Victor/Victoria, the role made famous by Julie Andrews in the 1980 Blake Edwards movie of the same name. Ron Hastings plays the role of Toddy, played in the movie by Robert Preston. This musical won the IVRT audience poll and is being produced by IVRT for two nights and one matinee only, on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 27 and 28 at the Candlelight Pavilion in Claremont.

Regarded as one of most popular musicals of all time, the classic My Fair Lady turns 60 and receives this month a new theatrical production signed by the Director Jorge Takla. With a great cast and live orchestra, the show - based on the classic Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw - tells the story of an aristocrat teacher, Mr. Henry Higgins, who takes up the challenge to transform the poor Eliza Doolittle, street vendor without any refinement, in a society lady. With luxurious scenery and costumes, the show will have place at the Santander Theatre, in Sao Paulo, between August 27 and November 6, 2016.

Australia's MY FAIR LADY, directed by Julie Andrews, stars British performer Alex Jennings, as Professor Higgins and the young Australian star, Anna O'Byrne, as Eliza Doolittle. Keala Settle has made a name for herself in the Broadway landscape due diligently portraying supporting roles, be it the bigoted Shirley in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Norma in 2013's Hands on a Hardbody (a show-stopping performance for which she earned a Tony nomination), or the affectionate but no-nonsense best friend in Waitress, her current gig.
