I don't find many comedians funny, but I surrendered to Moore's clever monologue, joined by uproarious laughter from the audience throughout the show. His type of humor is sophisticated and intellectual; he presented his show as a 12-step program for liberals. I'm neither a liberal nor an alcoholic, so going through a 12-step recovery session was a novel experience. One of the traditional steps in such programs involve turning one's problems over to God. From England to New Zealand to Hong Kong, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber-produced 2006 lavish revival of The Sound of Music finally made it to Manila, which officially held its gala performance last Friday, September 29, at The Theatre at Solaire and an after party at the Diamond Hotel. (Thanks to Globe Live, Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, Concertus Manila, and David Atkins Enterprises--yes, it takes a village to import a first-rate international theatrical production!)

Executive Director, Connor Deane announced today that the third annual BROADWAY SINGS gala would be held on Monday, November 27 at the historic Westport Country Playhouse. Broadway Method Academy is a non-profit musical theater-training program where young artists are linked with working Broadway professionals, both in the classroom and on-stage. The academy serves at resident conservatory to Westport Country Playhouse.

Work Light Productions launches the National Tour of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL tonight, September 29, in Owensboro, KY.

Associate Director Frank Thompson, who was also the resident director of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's revival production of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium, presented the cast of the international touring production of The Sound of Music, led by Carmen Pretorius (Maria) and Janelle Visagie (Mother Abbess), at a media call yesterday.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel opened the 2017/18 season with a special program that showcased Mozart's precocious talents with the Opening Night Concert & Gala: Mozart - The Early Years, Tuesday, September 26, 7 pm, at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The UK tour of Tom Kempinski's award-winning play, DUET FOR ONE, starring Belinda Lang as Stephanie Abrahams and Oliver Cotton as Dr Feldmann, opened at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 22 September and will continue to tour through to 18 November 2017. The Sarah Siddons Society of Chicago honored its 2017 recipients of the prestigious Actor of the Year Award in a lavish event this week at the Hilton Orrington Hotel in Evanston. Kate Baldwin, this year's HELLO DOLLY! Tony nominee for Best Supporting Actress, and Kate Shindle, 1998 Miss America, and current star of the national tour of FUN HOME, received their award at a Gala Awards event on Monday, September 18th, at the Hilton Orrington Hotel in Evanston.
