Theatre Communications Group Publishes AN IDEAL THEATER: FOUNDING VISIONS

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of An Ideal Theater: Founding Visions for a New American Art, a wide-ranging, inspiring documentary history of the American theatre movement as told by the visionaries who goaded it into being.

LPTW's Women Stage the World Hosts 'Theatre Women March on Broadway' Today

Tonight, June 11th at 6 p.m., Women Stage the World, an advocacy project from The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), will bring to life a suffragette inspired parade in which Broadway theatregoers will see over 100 women parading and advocating for equal representation in theatre. Many parading will be wearing costumes in honor of famous women who set the stage: you may recognize the likes of Dorothy Parker, Katharine Cornell, Aphra Behn, Margo Jones, Lady Gregory or Hallie Flanagan, the director of WPA Theatre.

Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Presents POETRY IN THEATRE Today

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY announces POETRY IN THEATRE, today, June 3 from 2pm - 9pm, a special day-long program of new and rarely-performed works of poetry and theatre, featuring readings and discussions with Judith Malina, Lemon Anderson, Jim Fletcher, Kenneth Goldsmith, Bob Holman, Sibyl Kempson, Christopher Knowles, Yusef Komunyakaa, and Ariana Reines.

League of Profession Theatre Women Will Hold June Awards luncheon June 5

On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, is pleased to recognize the talents of four outstanding women: Peggy Eisenhauer, Judith Malina, Mia Katigbak, and Ashley Marinaccio. ANOTHER LIFE at Theater for the New City Reacts to Guantanamo Bay Hunger Strike

As events unfold in the forcible repression of the hunger strike by 88 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, we are entering the final week of 'Another Life,' written and directed by Karen Malpede, presented by Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave. The play protests the Bush era torture program and the indefinite detentions of our post-9/11 world. Its cast and company, shocked by news from Gitmo, will host post-play discussions during the play's final week as community forums for playgoers to exchange thoughts and concerns on the events.

IT Awards' 2013 Honorary Award Applications Now Open; Deadline 5/1

The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, has announced that the 2013 Honorary Award applications are now available online at www.nyitawards.com. The applications for the 2013 Honorary Awards are available online and are due by 6pm on May 1, 2013.

Wide Eyed Productions presents 'Wide Eyed Winks', a season of development. Performances run now through July 9, 2013, the second Today of every month. Upcoming dates include: March 12 at 7pm; April 9 at 7 pm; May 14 at 7 pm; June 11 at 7 pm; and July 9 at 7 pm. Alan Alda Receives 2013 Common Wealth Award for Dramatic Arts

Four renowned achievers will be honored for their lifetime accomplishments with the 34th Annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service. The awards recognize individuals who have enriched modern society in a range of human endeavors. The 2013 Common Wealth Award winners are: Alan Alda, celebrated actor, director and screenwriter, for Dramatic Arts; David McCullough, preeminent author and historian, for Literature; Jane Pauley, leading broadcast journalist, Today Show contributor and author, for Mass Communications; Martin Sheen, film legend, social activist and humanitarian, for Public Service.

The Living Theatre Will Continue in NYC

Under the artistic direction of the legendary Judith Malina, The Living Theatre will continue to produce its unique avant-garde political theatre in New York City. Additional performances of its current hit, HERE WE ARE, are set to play downtown's Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center (107 Suffolk Street) in Manhattan, March 26-29 at 8pm.

With humor and vision, 'Kane and Habil in the Pizza Parlor' (http://kaneandhabil.com) explores the original family sins that are still impacting our civilization. The title characters are the children of Adam and Eve. The play is a comedy, written and directed by Serge Ernandez. The production features an adept cast headed by Obie-winner Sheila Dabney as Eve, who also directs the play's chorus. Ernandez is a veteran of The Living Theatre; Dabney is a senior member of La MaMa's Great Jones Rep. La Mama E.T.C. will present the play's premiere run tonight, January 18 to 27 in its second-floor Club.

Judith Malina's HERE WE ARE launches The Living Theatre's 66th Season

The Living Theatre, the oldest experimental theatre group still producing in the United States, launches its 66th year with the world premiere of Judith Malina's HERE WE ARE -- with previews to begin January 10, prior to its official press opening January 23 at The Living Theatre (21 Clinton Street). Judith Malina directs.
