The final recording and complete box set of The Nielsen Project - the New York Philharmonic's acclaimed multi-season survey of the six symphonies and three concertos by Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) - will be released June 9, 2015, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth. The final recording features Nielsen's complete concertos: the Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Robert Langevin, Clarinet Concerto with Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill, and Violin Concerto with Danish violinist Nikolaj Znaider.

In the first program, Mr. Boreyko will conduct Stravinsky's The Song of the Nightingale; Mozart's Bassoon Concerto, with Principal Bassoon Judith LeClair; and Zemlinsky's The Mermaid, Fantasy for Orchestra, on Thursday, January 15, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; today, January 16 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, January 17 at 8:00 p.m.

The February broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begin with Music Director Alan Gilbert leading the Philharmonic in Beethoven's Fidelio Overture and Symphony No. 1; Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1, with Lisa Batiashvili as soloist; and Gershwin's An American in Paris. Cleveland Orchestra Appoints New Bassoonist William Hestand

Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra yesterday announced the appointment of a new Orchestra member. William Hestand has been appointed second bassoon. He joins the Orchestra on November 19. Mr. Hestand succeeds Phillip Austin, who joined the Orchestra in 1981 and retired in August 2011.

JCC Thurnauer School of Music Announces Selected Students For Master Class
