Garth Fagan Dance has four premieres up its sleeve for its Joyce Theater engagement, November 7-12. Two of the new dances, In Conflict and Estrogen/Genius, are by Fagan, the Tony-winning choreographer of The Lion King; the other two premieres, Wecoo Duende and A Moderate Cease, are by the company's long-time dancer and Fagan muse Norwood Pennewell.
Ailey Short Film Created On Paris Street Debuts in Celebration Of United Nations Day

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is pleased to announce Rue Montorgueil, a joyful short film that sprang to life on a bustling Parisian street when Ailey company members performed with local dancers - people of different backgrounds, talents and nationalities joined together through the universal language of dance. Recognized by U.S. Congressional resolution as a vital American Cultural Ambassador to the World, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater participated in the project during a 10-week international tour throughout Europe led by Artistic Director Robert Battle. Fittingly, it is being released on United Nations Day, which celebrates the founding and ideals of the UN, with an official theme this year of Potential in Diversity.

Memoirs of Blacks in Ballet (MoBB), curated and founded by Theresa Ruth Howard, is an online digital platform that looks to preserve the history and tell the stories and contributions of Blacks in ballet. It also serves as a call for advocacy for diversity in the training and careers in the field of ballet. Ms. Howard and MoBB are pleased to announce the launch of And Still They Rose: The Legacy of Black Philadelphians in Ballet- an online video series that tells the stories of three great trailblazers: Judith Jamison, Joan Myers Brown, and Delores Browne.

This fall, Ailey announces exciting highlights and achievements: a new wing will allow for more classes for students of The Ailey School and Ailey Extension at New York's largest building dedicated to dance; Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater welcomes a world premiere by Company star Jamar Roberts for the upcoming season; Ailey luminaries receive major honors; and the organization's Destination Dance initiative continues with Ailey II performances in Atlanta during an extensive tour.
MoBBallet presents AND STILL THEY ROSE

Memoirs of Blacks in Ballet (MoBBallet), a groundbreaking legacy project documenting and transforming conversations around black ballet artists, heralds the completion of its inaugural video installation And Still They Rose: The Legacy of Black Philadelphians in Ballet. Highlighting Joan Myers Brown, Delores Brown and Judith Jamison, three Black Philadelphian dancers who were classically trained, the video installation will be released on MoBBallet's website October 22, 2017. A corresponding panel discussion, moderated by MoBBallet's founder Theresa Ruth Howard, and featuring Joan Myers Brown and Delores Brown, will take place at Philadelphia's The Painted Bride Arts Center on October 28. The installation and panel will bring to proper light the history of Black Philadelphians in classical ballet through a recounting of their dance training and careers.
