American Composers Orchestra (ACO) and WWFM The Classical Network announce The ACO Experience, a new radio program hosted by Diane Guvenis that features live recordings of music by today's most talented and exciting composers. All works are performed by the American Composers Orchestra or by guest artists and ensembles participating in ACO concerts and ACO's 2011 and 2015 SONiC: Sounds of a New Century, nine-day citywide festivals in New York, each featuring music by more than 100 composers age 40 and under. The six-member New York City-based ensemble yMusic, which has shown incredible virtuosity and versatility through genre-bending collaborations with both classical and mainstream artists, plays in Zankel Hall on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. Alongside works by alternative style pop musicians like Son Lux and Sufjan Stevens, and indie classical composers like Andrew Norman, Judd Greenstein, and Timo Andres, yMusic gives the world premiere performance of two works by MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, commissioned by Carnegie Hall as part of its 125 Commissions Project. Texas Performing Arts presents a vocal-infused double bill featuring Grammy Award®-winning ensemble Roomful of Teeth and an encore performance of Mozart Requiem Undead by Panoramic Voices (formerly the Texas Choral Consort and Orchestra) along with Austin-based vocal ensemble Convergence.
