David Broza is regularly referred to as "the Israeli Springsteen," but the moniker belies the wide range of styles he combines in his music and the diversity of collaborators with whom he works. The singer-songwriter's new concert, David Broza & Friends, brings his varied musical explorations together in a single, signature performance. Starting the evening alone on stage, Broza will introduce a band member or group of band members with each song, creating a show that culminates, Bolero-style, in an ecstatic big-band crescendo.
SPARTACUS OF AFRICA to Play Return Season at Oude Libertas

A SPARTACUS OF AFRICA, featuring the original music of Khachaturian, will be presented for a limited season at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre this November. Renowned choreographer Veronica Paeper has re-designed the original ballet that she created for CAPAB Ballet in 1984, in which she incorporates contemporary dance and classical ballet.

Telemundo Deportes, the home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, presents five of six qualifying matches played over two days in the hexagonal round of the Concacaf. Only three of the six teams that have made it to this stage will qualify for the World Cup, while a fourth will face an intercontinental playoff to secure its ticket to Russia 2018. The coverage will include one-on-one interviews with head coaches Juan Carlos Osorio (Mexico), Hernán Darío Gómez (Panama) and Jurgen Klinsmann (United States), as well as live video links to the stadiums and pregame commentary before each match.

Jazz singer and recording artist, Katini Yamaoka, will release her debut album Gone on OneTrickDog*Records in a showcase performance at NeueHouse on November 3. Born in Tokyo to West African and Japanese parents, and raised in the Far East, Katini has drawn on her diverse cultural roots to create a distinctly modern sound that combines the high-tech urban edginess of J-music with the soulful melodic and poly-rhythmic traditions of classical jazz. Her years in Japan have led to a love of Coltrane and a fascination with the intimacy and the lived experience of improvisation. Gone effortlessly blends classical and modern urban styles, exploring the blurring of musical boundaries that is essential to contemporary jazz. Within this genre, Katini describes her style as “BGI” – brown girl iconic.

The first program of its kind to focus on the art of classical music criticism, the Rubin Institute brings together leading music critics, renowned musicians, and aspiring young writers for an intensive week of keynote addresses by critics, public performances, discussion panels, and critical reviews.
