The Joyce Theater Foundation, in association with The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, REDCAT (Los Angeles), Dance Affiliates (Philadelphia), ODC Theater (San Francisco) and On the Boards (Seattle), is pleased to announce the 12 choreographers who will participate in The A.W.A.R.D Show! 2010: New York City, taking place at Joyce SoHo from November 17-20, 2010 at 7 p.m.

Joyce Theater stage technicians voted 12 to zip in a secret ballot this morning (10/26) to designate Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) as their collective bargaining representative in a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)-supervised election.

Joyce Theater stage technicians will have a chance to prove to Joyce management that they have designated Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) as their collective bargaining representative in a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)-supervised election October 26. Upon certification, the Joyce stage technicians will have spoken just six weeks after the petition was filed by Local One.

The Joyce Theater Foundation is pleased to announce that choreographer Makiko Tamura (small apple co.) is the winner of The A.W.A.R.D Show! 2009: New York City. Tamura, who competed in a four day event with eleven other participants, received a $10,000 cash award to use toward the creation of a new dance work. Two runners-up, Monica Bill Barnes (Monica Bill Barnes & Company) and Shannon Gillen & Elisabeth Motley (DOORKNOB COMPANY) were each awarded $1,000.

Inspired by the previous success of The A.W.A.R.D. Show! in New York City and Gainesville, Florida, The Joyce Theater Foundation is partnering with three presenting organizations- The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and On the Boards (Seattle)-to expand The A.W.A.R.D. Show! across the country. The A.W.A.R.D. Show! was created in response to a need for a lab-like space in which working dance artists can engage in an open dialogue with the audience about their work. It is dedicated to nurturing new work, discussion, exploration, creativity and to the free exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions.
