Hubbard Street to Kick Off DANC(E)VOLVE: NEW WORKS FESTIVAL, 6/6

The highly acclaimed contemporary dance companies Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Hubbard Street 2 return to MCA Stage for the second danc(e)volve: New Works Festival. They perform new works created by rising choreographers within the company and former main company member Robyn Mineko Williams. The two-week long festival features seven new works under consideration to become a part of Hubbard Street's active repertoire.

Gala occasions for dance companies are usually about packing in as many stars as possible who then oblige the audience by showing off with excessive pyrotechnics. The Joyce Foundation Spring Gala, honoring Paige Royer and Kerry Clayton as well as Michele and Steven Pesner, bucked the trend by having four different repertory pieces performed by a highly diverse group of dancers assembled from across the dance world.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Comes to Joyce Theatre 4/14-26

Now celebrating its 35th year, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago will be presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation for two weeks this spring, May 14-26. For this return to The Joyce, the dancers of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago will offer two programs featuring choreography by Aszure Barton, Mats Ek and Ohad Naharin, as well as a Joyce-commissioned work by former Hubbard Street dancer Robyn Mineko Williams.

Nederlands Dans Theater Returns to NY in April

The Joyce Theater Foundation is readying the red carpet to welcome the return of the Nederlands Dans Theater to New York City after an eight-year absence. One of Europe's most celebrated contemporary dance companies, NDT performs at the David H. Koch Theater, April 11 & 12. It will also perform as part of The Joyce's April 10 gala at the Koch.

The Joyce Theater Foundation Reschedules LES BALLETS JAZZ de MONTREAL for 12/13-15

The Joyce Theater Foundation announced today that it has successfully rescheduled Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal to return for four performances December 13 - 15, after its original Joyce engagement this season was canceled due to the power and transportation outages caused by Hurricane Sandy. As previously announced, the program will include new works by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto, former Batsheva resident choreographer Barak Marshall, and celebrated Chinese choreographer Wen Wei Wang. Joyce Theater Foundation Grants Option to Purchase Home in Chelsea and Relocate and Upgrade Its Soho Studio

Joyce Theater Selects Pacific Northwest Ballet for Nureyev Prize

The Joyce Theater Foundation today announced the selection of Pacific Northwest Ballet as its second recipient of The Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance, a $25,000 commissioning grant established for the purpose of creating new works from large ballet companies, many of whom rarely perform in New York. The prize allows companies accustomed to performing large scale work to create new pieces for a smaller venue. In turn, the award provides audiences with the opportunity to experience these companies in the Joyce's intimate setting.
