The Penny Seats to Present World Premier of THE RENAISSANCE MAN

The Penny Seats Theatre Company is thrilled to announce that its seventh summer season this year will open on Thursday, June 15th with The Renaissance Man, a World Premier from renowned Michigan playwright, Joseph Zettelmaier. The story is comedic riff on Macbeth set in the modern day at a local Renaissance Faire. It joyfully follows the lives of workers at the Faire, asking whether a disgruntled knight can-or should-take the Faire back to its Renaissance roots. Zettelmaier's work retains fundamental elements of Shakespeare's play, while exploring just how funny the story can be in context.

Idle Muse Theatre Company announces design team for the Chicago premiere of The Scullery Maid written by playwright Joseph Zettelmaier. 'The Scullery Maid is a story about servants as much as kings. I wrote this play during what I thought was a contentious election cycle here in America (I had no idea what was yet to come).

Peninsula Players Theatre presented a reading of "Population 485" by Michael Perry at Bjorklunden Monday, February 6 to an audience of more than 150. "Population 485" was produced as part of The Play's the Thing, a winter series of play readings organized by Peninsula Players Theatre.
Williamston Theatre Receives Grant from the Dramatists Guild Fund

The Williamston Theatre has been awarded a grant from the Dramatists Guild Fund (DGF). The grant will support two World Premieres that are a part of the 2016-2017 Season. The productions supported by this funding are Pulp by Joseph Zettelmaier, which had performances September 26 - October 23, 2016, and A Painted Window by Christy Hall, with performances from January 26 - February 26, 2017. Mr. Zettelmaier is a Michigan playwright whose work has been produced at Theatres throughout Michigan and across the country. Ms. Hall is a New York playwright whose work has been produced at Theatres across the country, and who is making her Williamston Theatre debut with A Painted Window.

Idle Muse Artistic Director, Evan Jackson directs. Idle Muse Theatre Company's eleventh season features plays which explores women achieving self-definition in a world that tries to define them in relationship to the men around them.

Theatre Nova Adds Leadership Positions to Management Team for 2017

Theatre Nova, Ann Arbor's professional playwrights' theater, now finishing up its second year of operations, is proud to announce additions to its leadership team. Founding Artistic Director, Carla Milarch, will be joined by Diane Hill and David Wolber who will both serve as Producing Artistic Directors. These experienced administrators will join the existing Theatre Nova team of Daniel C. Walker, Becky Fox, and Emilio Rodriguez in their quest to establish the group as a major theatre destination. The new, expanded team is excited to help lead the organization forward and is preparing for a number of new and exciting developments including announcing a "Supra-Season," establishing a season subscription program, continuing to improve the facility, and announcing special partnerships in the community. Theatre Nova is making a name for hot-off-the-press new works, with plays such as the new musical "Irrational" by David Wells and R. MacKenzie Lewis, and local playwright Kim Carney's poignant new work, "Katherine," along with "Mr. Joy" by Daniel Beaty, all recent critical and box office hits.

Idle Muse Theatre Company announces their 11th Season which will begin in November with the now annual Athena Festival, celebrating plays written and directed by women to be curated by ensemble member Sara Robinson. Idle Muse Artistic Director, Evan Jackson directs the Chicago premiere of The Scullery Maid written by playwright Joseph Zettelmaier in March 2017. The season then concludes in August 2017 with the Midwest premiere of Conor McPherson's The Veil.
