Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Performs Gershwin's Greatest Hits Tonight

Maestro Case Scaglione leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in an evening of George Gershwin's Greatest Hits tonight, July 25 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and Friday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program will feature the jazz-filled melodies of Rhapsody in Blue, featuring pianist Jon Nakamatsu, and the timeless music from An American in Paris. Marin Alsop to Remain with Baltimore Symphony Through 2021

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces that Music Director Marin Alsop will continue her commitment to the Orchestra with the signing of a six-year contract that extends from September 2015 to August 2021, her second contract renewal with the Orchestra. Maestra Alsop began her tenure as the Orchestra's 12th music director in September 2007; in 2009 she renewed her contract through 2015. This latest contract ensures that the BSO's popular music director will continue to be on the podium for approximately half of all classical subscription programs.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra OrchKids to Perform IT'S A MUSICAL WORLD This Weekend

In addition to the BSO Academy Festival presented by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) at Artscape this weekend (July 20-21), the OrchKids will perform a special concert. Today, July 20 at 3:30 pm, the OrchKids will perform 'It's a Musical World' at the Brown Center at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), presenting musical selections from around the world that showcase and celebrate multi-cultural art. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Hosts BSO Academy Festival at Artscape This Weekend

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will host two community activities at Artscape, America's largest free arts festival held in Baltimore annually. The BSO Academy Festival at Artscape will provide adult amateur musicians the opportunity to perform with the BSO today, July 20 at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Concertmaster Jonathan Carney will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in an evening of music by Baroque Masters tonight, July 11 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and Friday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program will feature selections from Baroque's 'Big Three' composers, including Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons,' Bach's 'Orchestral Suite No. 3,' and Handel's 'The Royal Fireworks Suite' and 'Water Music.'

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to Present THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SYMPHONY OF THE GODDESSES, 7/27

Maestra Eimear Noone leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses on Saturday, July 27 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. John Williams Conducts Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in Celebration of Steven Spielberg Tonight

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) welcomes five-time Academy Award-winning composer John Williams will conduct the BSO in a special benefit concert tonight, June 4 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, appearing at the personal invitation of BSO Music Director Marin Alsop. Williams, celebrating 40 years of collaborating with legendary director Steven Spielberg, will conduct the BSO in selections from some of his most popular film scores. Furthermore, Williams is donating his services for this important fundraising concert for the BSO musicians' pension fund.
