Next week's quarter finals of the 2017 "MetroStar Talent Challenge" features thirteen exciting talents vying to become the 10th MetroStar Talent Challenge winner. MetroStar's Top 13 is a baker's dozen of singers from a variety of backgrounds, including Broadway and cabaret, as well as a number of brand new talents, like 16-year-old Jackie Mate, who are hoping to make a big splash in their cabaret debuts.
Cabaret Cares is the Award Winning benefit series that benefits Help Is On The Way Today a non for profit created by cabaret producer Joseph Macchia, Cabaret Cares is a ongoing monthly series that was created to benefit Help Is On The Way Today a non for profit organization that helps children, teens and youth living with HIV and AIDS.

Free To Be Me will be hosted by the one and only Doris Dear. The evening will feature a lineup of male performers who will sings songs they were told they could never sing because they are men. Comedian-singer, Gary Northrup, brings his alter ego, Mildred Scrodum, to the Metropolitan Room in NYC on June 9th at 9:30pm for one performance of "An Evening with Mildred Scrodum and Friends" starring Gary Northrup, Hanna Burke and Joshua Bennett. Northrup's Mildred is a charming and hilarious character based on real women from Gary Northrup's childhood in the Bible Belt, where he believed there was a wild woman even in the most stalwart of Christian ladies. Mildred lives in the "One Last Time Trailer Park."
The tenth annual "MetroStar Talent Challenge" is giving itself a fresh, new look as it adds two new categories to the career-boosting competition. This year, in addition to the MetroStar grand prize and its Special Audience Award (which was instituted in 2015), the 2017 edition of the summer tradition is adding an Innovation Award and a Best New Artist Award.
On May 21st Cabaret Cares concluded with the annual Cabaret Cares Gala evening at The Metropolitan Room. Joseph Macchia produced his first show in 1997 a show called Gwen Verdon and All Her Jazz, a show his brother Peter had written and starred in. Being bit by the producing bug, Joseph would go on to produce his brother's next show Judy and Me originally a one night solo show at the Duplex, Judy and Me would be turned into a play, and was booked for four nights at Rose's Turn. Where the show would wind up running for two years and then go and tour around the country. After Judy and Me toured the show took a break before returning to New York in an Off Off Broadway Run and then Off Broadway run. Since Judy and Me Joseph has created and produced numerous shows in New York City,
