EM/NY Announces HAYDN IN ESTERHAZY - Genial Kapellmeister

For the first time in a decade, Frederick Renz, Director of Early Music New York (EM/NY) and conductor of its chamber orchestra, will devote an entire program to a single composer. 'Haydn in Esterh zy - Genial Kapellmeister' will be performed on Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m., at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, located at Central Park West and 68th Street, in New York's historic Lincoln Square neighborhood.

Jeffrey Kahane to Conduct, Perform with Alisa Weilerstein and the New York Philharmonic

Jeffrey Kahane will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17, from the piano; conduct Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, with cellist Alisa Weilerstein as soloist; and conduct Haydn's Symphony No. 98, from the fortepiano, Today, January 4, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The Cleveland Orchestra Celebrates 100th Season with Carnegie Hall Concerts

Celebrating its 100th year during the 2017 2018 season, The Cleveland Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage for two concerts in January, led by Music Director Franz Welser-M st. Since its Carnegie Hall debut in 1922, The Cleveland Orchestra has performed at the Hall a total of 222 times in its 100-year history.

Segerstrom Center For The Arts Presents Debut Of Ebene Quartet, 3/4

Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the Center debut performance of the acclaimed Eb ne Quartet on March 4, 2018 at 2: 00pm. Since coming to international attention after winning first prize at the ARD Music Competition in 2004, the Eb ne Quartet has been thrilling audiences and critics with their superb renditions of classical favorites and arrangements of popular and jazz works. What began as a distraction in university practice rooms has re sulted i n one of today's most praised classical ensembles, renowned for its unique style and fresh approach to the chamber repertoire. The Eb ne Quartet won the 2009 Gramophone Awards for both Recording of the Year and Chamber music. Quartet members includ e Pierre Colombet and Gabriel Le Magadure, violins; Marie Chilemme, viola; and Rapha l Merlin, violoncello.

Carnegie Hall Presents the New York String Orchestra with Jaime Laredo on 12/24 and 28

Under the baton of Jaime Laredo, the New York String Orchestra, an ensemble of young players from around the world who come together each year for a seminar of rehearsals and performance preparation, will give its two annual concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage in late December. For more than 40 years, the orchestra has celebrated joyous music-making in concert on Christmas Eve. This year, on Sunday, December 24 at 7:00 p.m., the orchestra is joined by violinist Pamela Frank, who was once a student of Mr. Laredo, for Mozart's Sinfonia concertante on a program that also includes Vivaldi's Concerto in A Minor for Two Violins, Strings, and Continuo from L'estro armonico as well as Haydn's Drumroll Symphony. On Thursday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m., pianist Richard Goode is featured in Mozart's dramatic Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor. Also on the program is Gabriela Lena Frank's work Eleg a Andina inspired by Peruvian pan pipes and Mendelssohn's vibrant Scottish Symphony.

The Chamber Orchestra Announces Next Improvisational Concert ALL BEETHOVEN

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces the second improvisation focused concert in their 2017/2018 Improvisionaries season featuring the music of Beethoven. Piano virtuosity shines as the Chamber Orchestra showcases the up and coming piano star Charlie Albright. Hailed for his jaw-dropping technique and virtuosity meshed with a distinctive musicality by The New York Times, Albright performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 as well as improvisations on the F r Elise. Curtis trained conductor, Sarah Ioannides one of today's most prominent female conductors makes her Chamber Orchestra debut.

Announcing Lincoln Center's White Light Festival 2017

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."
